I have created a webpage of comprehensive Rome Total War Unit Stats. It is a work-in-progress, so there may be some oddities.

However, all of the data were gathered directly from game files so it should be fairly reliable.

You can see the unit stats here:

Rome: Total War Unit Stats (http://www.onlinedesert.com/rtw)

Enjoy!

hmm, elephant stats do not seem impressive at all... they are worse than stats for many infantry units....

The elphants strength lies in its charge bonus.

the charge bonus is 11 (at least, displayed in the posted stat file) whereas barbarian warlord cavalry has a bonus of 10... elephant's attack is quoted as 7 whereas the BW has one of 11. doesn't seem too much like an advantage for elephant's mass...

Elephants have insane hitpoints, which aren't yet reflected in my unit stats.

LOL! I love this description (Bestbuy spelled backwards):

Yubtseb Elephants

These mysterious creatures from the middle principalities of farthest Terra Nova are the children of of Gnitekram, the God of Shiny Things That Man Does Not Need But Desires Anyway. Dark and foul are the ceremonies that summon them; great and scary are their tusks; terrible is their gaze; unwashed are their riders; cruel and unforgiving their masters. Flee in terror. Run for the hills.

If someone sees fit and has rights, can this be reposted to the senior (higher trafficked) board?

Very nice :) I've been looking at the text file but this is a lot handier :)

Although, at least on myend, units are listed twice, and hastati appear to be getting a mount_effect that I don't see in the file itself.

Yes, some units are listed twice.

That is because, for whatever reason, they are listed twice in the data file. In some cases, the units have the same name and same faction ownership, but different stats. I'm not clear on why that is and will change it when I figure it out.

Ah ok :)

Also, I love what you have so far very much, but you might want to include primary as well as secondary armors, and list the armor type.

Like, wardogs, the handlers have the very good armor and the dogs have crappy armor :)

I would like to know where you got the pictures from the units (the icons, not the large pictures). I have spent some time looking in the game folder but couldn't find them. Have you got then by taking ingame screenshots? Or are they hidden somewhere?

Edit: I just saw that Hillmen and Easern Infantry are missing from the Pontus page.

Armored Elephants have 15 hit points! Chariots have between 3 and 5! General cav units only have 2 (Except for the Chariot Warlord general unit).

That explains why elephants can wipe out so many units. :)

Excellent work SC! Any chance we might see a mercenary section in the future?

A pack extractor has been published. The images come from
DATA/PACKS/UI/UNIT_INFO
DATA/PACKS/UI/UNITS

when you extract UI_0.pak and UI_1.pak

According to the data file, Hillmen and Eastern Infantry are not pontus units. They are "eastern" infantry and are listed as such.

It might be that "eastern" is an abstract faction and that several factions, including pontus, are considered "eastern" and get all eastern units.

There are several strange factions in the data files (roman, egyptian AND egypt, ct_carthage AND carthage, greek AND greek_cities) that I haven't made sense of yet. Perhaps "roman" units are available to all houses of rome and barbarian units are available to all barbarian-like factions - britons, gauls, etc. I don't know yet and will change it when I do get to the bottom of it.

by the way, the unit size does not make sense on the website. the costs correspond to the default unit size nonetheless, number of men in a unit is nothing like what you see in the game playing at default size.

Thanks for the tip... Maybe I can even make a desktop theme out of those pictures :nice:.
I think you are right about the "eastern faction" and those. All the Eastern factions have the same intro movie as well, and all Greek based (Macedonians, Seleucids, Greek cities) have the same Greek intro as well. So probably the common units are tied like that as well.

From Roman Decere description:

I wage my empire this ship does not appear in game... Maybe after 1.2 patch? doubt it tho. Hopefully, some modders will bring to life.

Forgot to add, it'd be helpful to have Unit stats for each faction tabulated in some form - so that ppl could compare which ones are better at a glance ;)

Nice start.

It might be an idea to sort each page better, to make units easier to find. Also, I notice that all the Roman sections are currently identical to the Senate faction and there seem to be a few omissions and duplicate entries!

For example, all of the 'Cohort' units seem to appear twice, while the Hastati and Velites don't seem to appear at all. Also, the gladiator units should differ between factions, I think?

I look forward to visiting the finished site. Good luck with it! ~

The Decere is buildable, you get it and the Corvus Quinquireme via one of the sea god temples rather than dockyards.

EDIT: Now that I'm home, I coudl check the game files... the Corvus Quinquireme is buildable once you have an Awesome Temple of Neptune and the Decere requires a Pantheon of Neptune, so only the Scipii can actually build these ships.
