I will edit this post if something serious will be changed.
ALL these units are already available in the MTW edition of this mod - check the thread in the Engineers Guild and my sign for downloads.
The units appear in 0.7 beta pre-release for MTW.
ALL these units are known in details ( mostly), which allows recreating them in the RTW engine mod.
Persian and African ubits will be added later. ~D

Congrats on finally getting your own subforum it really seemed strange that you had to work with only one thread. Anyway I'll check the site more often now since it a lot easier to navigate it now....
Anyway, I have an offer for you, and I hope you'll give it some thought. As you probably know, CTW is progressing, albeit slowly, and we started modeling units now, having made several by now. Hopefully, the pace will pick up. Only one of our 3d modellers has been active thus far, we hope the others do something soon.
So our problem is quite obvious - modelling 200+ units we need for our mod. And unless you have more than 2 active 3d artists, we share this problem with you. So would you consider sharing some unit models that are going to be in both our mods? The reverse would apply of course, of course...
I've only skimmed through your unit list, but there are definetely some units that we share, for example, Zirhli Nefer, Tufekci Nefer, Winged Hussar, many 16th century units, Landesknechts....
Well what do you think? GodsPetMonkey made several models already and I have to say I+m happy with the results (and I'm quite peculiar in that respect). In fact, he said he will be working on the Ottoman now, and one of the pictures I sent him was of a Zirhli Nefer... So if you're interesed, drop me a PM or post at our forum

Who is actually working on the units?
And I don't mean the models only, but also the export file? I mean somebody should start modding export file, using old unit models for the time being.
RTW and MTW unit stats don't match so they have to be reworked. I personally think we should make some units have more health points, like gladiators.

We are not working on unit stats just yet. In any case, that seems pretty simple with available unit editors, plus, we want to finish unit selection before starting on the unit scripting. That way it will be easier to balance various units, so we don't get strange results wich might happen if we start doing it too early. Besides, unit graphics is the real problem here, about 90% of the work with units is just making the models.
GodsPetMonkey is working on the 3d models. I guess I'll be doing a lot of unit scripting, as well as other members (Uesugi, Celtic, Saranalos..). So you, scripting is not really a problem.

Archeros:
This Bodyguard enters service on the 29th of January of 1496, as the Prince and princess of Spain were travelling to Toledo.
There were 118 men and one capitain on active duty at any point in time up to 1931 (?). After 1700 they were called Wallon Guard.
Gear: Mounted-palace duty: Cuirass (front and back), helmet (morrion), mail sleeves, 2 pistols, lance, neckpiece.
Mounted-war: same as above plus gauntlets and full armour for their arms, plus a burgundian helmet (covered face).
Foot-palace: as in the previous palace except substitute the lance for a sort of Halberd. (It didnt have an axe head but a wide blade, quite unnerving) called the Archa.
Foot war: same as war above, but with the Archa.
They had superb morale as it was requested from them to be brave to join the guard if they were noblemen, or have served 6 years at war if they didnt belong to the old families. Their age was regulated between 25-35 after which they retired receiving 6 villages as retirement maintainance.

Persia ( high only)

Could I have pictures of how archeros and gallowglass looked, SwordMaster or someone? Are you sure about the morion, the miniature linked to in the screenshot thread wears a burgonet I think.
Also any picture of a 16th/17th century spear/lance/pike would be nice if you could show me, anything excavated or museum piece or other old, so that I can correct the spearhead shown in this (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=44093) thread, all I can find myself is drawings and painting of spears with too little detail.

Archero De La Cuchilla (http://www.lilliputmodel.com/articulos/josema_cazallas/archero_cuchilla/archero_cuchilla.htm) - everything you need about Archeros
Well, about Gallowglasses now:
- History of Gallowglasses / some pics (http://www.cisl.ie/mars/rory/gallowglass.htm)
- and a sword armed Gallowglass here;
http://www.doyle.com.au/images/galowglass.jpg
- both axeman and swordsman, and a dwarf kern ~;)
http://www.clanmackayusa.org/MackayHistory/bmk09.jpg
I'm wondering, they used swords or axes, so what will they use in mod? :book: Prehaps it could be that regular soldiers would use axes and only the captains swords, or the other way round?
Regards
EC
Axes were by far more common than swords for Gallowglass. The swords were actually just adopted from the Irish (the lewing swords), but Gallowglass worked for a lot of people. Their indigenous weapon (from the Hebrides) was an axe. Captains with swords seems a fair compromise though, as swords were also more expensive than their axes, so the captain of a Galloglaidh troop would be most likely to own one. Also, many 'gallowglass' in different artwork are actually Irish lewnaght, greatswordsmen, who were often grouped with the gallowglaidh units.

I can add up to 10 units in late - don't worry they would appear in a planned patch, not now ( I don't need more delays).
My proposals:
German Guard Pikemen;
German Guard Musketeers;
Imperial Jaeger - HRE marksmen from Austria or another single province,
Pikemen with 'Swine's Feathers' - didn't decide who would get them, possibly linked to an unique building ?
Artillery Train - wagons for multiplayer only. You know 'you'll win if you destroy my supplies etc';
Artillery escort - flintlock armed, but small numbers and hard to build, added to artillery roster, to make them a kind of escort for the artillery.
If you have something to propose for late only - do it.
In addition I will add :
Berber Crossbowmen and Cimaroons as additional african units in earlier eras if possible.

Just some name conventions for Spanish units. Being a Spaniard myself, I must state that:
1) The correct ortography for bowmen in Spanish is not archeros. It's arqueros. 'Archeros' seems to be a corruption from French or English sources, and looks very very weird for a Spaniard. ~:confused:
2) On the other side, Spanish bowmen should be really scarce, it was a very uncommon weapon in Spanish panoply even since XV centry.
3) Spanish infantry units formed regiments that were called Tercios during late 16th and 17th centuries. Although it must be considered as a name convention -like RTW Roman legion, since Tercios used also a mix of different weapons (pikes and muskets)- I recommend you to use it when naming Spanish infatry units (for example: Tercio de Piqueros).
Good luck!

Oh right. Excuse my ignorance. :embarassed: ~:)
Anyway, you should consider my advice about the term tercios.

Not really mate. Tercio is a term that describes a force of some 3-5000 men composed of different regiments with different weapons and even cavalry and artillery. Besides Tercios were usually named either after the regions where they were recruited in, or the names of the Maestre de Campo (Colonel).Lo siento. ~;)
