My seven-year-old in the next room who's snoring like a lumberjack. Eats and farts like one, will start drinking like one soon. He'll play rugby when he's older, like his Dad used to. He'll row if he gets the chance to go to University. He'll break hearts galore. He could so easily break mine, it's terrifying.

My favourite Pink Floyd album is pretty much the one I've listened to most recently, really...yeah, i feel you.. but it's always between animals, wish you were here, and final cut for me. surprisingly dark side is always a step below those in my book.

A great song off their latest album, dance of the death, go get it! ~D
Fantastic return to form for Maiden. I think it ranks with their '80s work (I'm think Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave, Seventh Son etc). No More Lies is a Maiden anthem of Fear of the Dark calibre. Favourite song off that album though is still Paschendale. Up the Irons!

No more lies is great and your right it is an anthem up there with any of their previous', however I disagree about my favorite song off the album. Personally it has to be Rainmaker, Montsegur or Journeyman - but having said that every single song off the album is great.

The album on the whole is probably my favorite Maiden album, and that is saying something. It is definately as good as Number of the Beast.

I love that album. IT's my favorite so far this year. There are a lot of new bansd like The Killers that are making some pretty impressive music. I can't beleave they are all coming out now though. IT's liek most of the 90s were a desert (with a few oasis) compared to the 00s. Do you agree.

No I was referring to Falling. Falling again is off their second album In A Reverie, it is pretty much just another take on the same song, but the original is better. Falling is off their self entitled first album - 'Lacuna Coil'.

As to Lacuna Coil, they are great. Lead singer is one hell of an awesome bird and their music is different. Best Italian band I know of anyway. And nowt wrong with Goth metal - or any form of metal! ~

I'd call American Idiot sort of punk, IMHO. In the same way that, say, the Offspring is. Punkish anyway.

I am glad you enjoyed the album EA! ~D

You should get Brave New World now, if you havent got it. It was released in 2000 and was the first material they did with Smith and Dickenson back. It is also a great album, some classics on it like blood brothers, dream of mirrors, ghost of navigator etc. I am sure all other Maiden fans here would back me up.

And Green Day are punk, well at least punk rock. American Idiot is a great album and is their best stuff to date, a few of the songs are just epics of that genre, like Holiday and Jesus of surburbia.

quote from allmusic.com, hardly authoritative, but a good primer:

Punk-Pop is a post-grunge strand of alternative rock that combines power-pop melodies and chord changes with speedy punk tempos and loud guitars. Green Day and Weezer were the first bands to popularize this variation of alternative rock in 1994, though there were several groups to play this style before either group and there were many artists that followed their stylistic blueprint after their success.

Willy Mason - Oxygen.

Heart warming song I take my hat off to him.

I wanna be better than oxygen
So you can breathe when you're drowning and weak in the knees
I wanna speak louder than Ritalin
For all the children who think that they've got a disease
I wanna be cooler than t.v.
For all the kids that are wondering what they are going to be
We can be stronger than bombs
If you're singing along and you know that you really believe
We can be richer than industry
As long as we know that there's things that we don't really need
We can speak louder than ignorance
Cause we speak in silence every time our eyes meet.

On and on, and on, and on it goes
The world it just keeps spinning
Until i'm dizzy, time to breathe
So close my eyes and start again anew.

I wanna see through all the lies of society
To the reality, happiness is at stake
I wanna hold up my head with dignity
Proud of a life where to give means more than to take
I wan't to live beyond the modern mentality
Where paper is all that you're really taught to create
Do you remember the forgotten america?
Justice, equality, freedom to every race?
Just need to get past all the lies and hypocrisy
Make up and hair to the truth behind every face
That look around to all the people you see,
How many of them are happy and free?
I know it sounds like a dream
But it's the only thing that can get me to sleep at night
I know it's hard to believe
But it's easy to see that something here isn't right
I know the future looks dark
But it's there that the kids of today must carry the light.

On and on, and on, and on it goes
The world it just keeps spinning
Until i'm dizzy, time to breathe
So close my eyes and start again anew.

If i'm afraid to catch a dream
I weave your baskets and i'll float them down the river stream
Each one i weave with words i speak to carry love to your relief.

I wanna be better than oxygen
So you can breathe when you're drowning and weak in the knees
I wanna speak louder than Ritalin
For all the children who think that they've got a disease
I wanna be cooler than t.v.
For all the kids that are wondering what they are going to be
We can be stronger than bombs
If you're singing along and you know that you really believe
We can be richer than industry
As long as we know that there's things that we don't really need
We can speak louder than ignorance
Cause we speak in silence every time our eyes meet.

On and on, and on, and on it goes
The world it just keeps spinning
Until i'm dizzy, time to breathe
So close my eyes and start again anew

Too right. I don't play guitar, but singing that and any Stones song is great fun. I especially like Jumpin' Jack Flash and Honky Tonk Women. Jagger's in my top three best rock'n'roll frontmen ever list. I love the bluesy edge he and Richards give to any great Stones lick, and Taylor/Richards was a truly amazing guitar partnership. Wild Horses is one of my favourite guitar licks.

EDIT - ATM, I'm listening to another live Guns N' Roses MP3, this time of Gilby Clarke's Wild Horses guitar solo from Chicago '92.
