Hello,

Well I decided to take another look to see why some units behave as cavalry. We all have seen it Some units attacking then withdrawing, then attacking again, then they try to flank etc. EXACTLY Identical to the cavalry tactics used by the AI.

Well after trying everything under the sun on unit settings, I decided to Try the fs_spearman animation, my reason is I noticed that NONE of the spearman unit will act this way. So I THOUGHT WORTH A TRY.

It worked! THe unit in this case carthaginian Infantry behaved exactly like it did before the 1.2 patch. It engaged and stayed engaged until it routed from the field. Now my theory is simple, I believe the AI has linked BOTH animations together, both the fs_swordman and the sf_hc_swordman, so when the AI sees Swordman it automatically goes for cavalry AI subroutines.

Now it may be the actual animation, and I wont know until I can test things, but I do not know how to edit animations. A simple fix may be just copying the swordman animations and adding a new animation with spearman in it. like fs_hi_spearman not sure or it maybe enough to just use the animation under a different name fs_hi_swordman.

Anyway, I was hoping to share this and if ANYONE here is good at animations I would LOVE to test this out. I beleive it will work since using the spearman animation works.

Anyway, if we could only fix the lift siege AI bug. lol

Seems this only happens with the 1.2 patch for me. If you find out what's causing it, I'll be very happy ~:)

Ok here it is BAD news.

The fs_spearman animation works EVERYTIME no wierd AI behavior. BUt I tried a new animation pack with the names fs_hi_spearman and fs_hi_swordsman BOTH did not work, so there MUST be something INSIDE the animation telling the AI to use that routine.

I also tried the fs_gladius and it didnt work either.

So either we need to modify and existing fs_spearman and just change a couple animation to allow overhand or there is some flag in the animation that tells the AI its swords so behave this way.

Anyone willing to try an edit an existing spearman animation? and lets test that? Because the only fix as it stands now is the spearman animation which isnt bad, but cannot be used for romans with the turtle.
