Hi there

I was wondering If I could change the culture type of a settlement, was going to change Jerusalem from an Egyptian City to more like a Jewish City. If I changed the culture type on the descr_strat file to parthian and the buildings to temple of one god etc would this do or would I just get a CTD?

Thanks

I know that if you change the culture type in descr_strat will change the model used on the map, but I think (could someone confirm this) that it will change back to an Egyptian City eventually, just like barbarian cities change to roman after they've been conquered for a while...

The settlement culture is influenced by two files at the beginning:

regions.txt
descr_strat.txt

In regions there are entries in this form:

; region tag
; settlement tag
; default culture tag
; map RGB value
; comma-seperated resource list
; triumph point value
; base farm level

The default culture tag is used if the settlement is given to the rebels at the start.

When a region is owned by a particular faction at the start of the came, there is an entry for faction_creator FACTION, which is used for the layout of the settlement and its appearance on the map.

The settlement plan and appearance changes in-game based on the culture of the faction that built the current core_building (i.e. governors house, et cetera). So if you set "faction_creator parthia" at the beginning, then Jerusalem will have that appearance until the egyptians build the next level of core building, at which point it will change.
