yeesh, this one doesn't make sense, but somehow this is how it works now in 1.2... instead of selecting the naval stack on the campaign map, you need to select the individual unit cards. after ctrl-selecting all of them individually (or bringing the stack into the enemy zone of control and even selecting just one of the unit cards), you can then attack an enemy ship in port.
only just discovered this
Thanks.
I need this against the Egyptiians.

Good to know, but since v1.2 it seems no so important to me, as my enemies have only built 2 ships in about 30 years. Not really a frightening navy, for sure.
Another annoying bug of the patch, now the control of the seas is a piece of cake. Really sad.

Now, we shouldn't jump to conclusions. Maybe it is a feature :dizzy2:
I particularly like how I try to block a narrow strait and attack enemy fleets trying to get through, and they retreat by GOING PAST MY BLOCKADE!! :furious3: Kinda defeats the purpose. How can retreating ships ignore zone of control and actually pass the attackers? Another feature?

Old Celt, please stop your campaign of sabotage about this naval war feature of RTW. Otherwise they will end up not issuing the XP.

I'm sorry. despite my best efforts, I seem to have lapsed into guerilla tactics. I shall endeavor to be a more proper plebeian in matters of watery combat from now on. ~;)

It bugs the crap outa me too. I've mentioned this as "an issue" in the "CA asks for Bug List - to be fixed in the expansion " thread.

Back to the attacking ships in port thing...does this mean there is a bug here?
Either we should be able to attack ships in port by the usual method (clicking our fleet and then right click the enemy) - which doesn't work in 1.2. Or we shouldn't be able to attack ships in port at all. The inconsistency suggests a bug.

By selecting your whole fleet you can blockade a port with enemy ships within it and by selecting all ships in your fleet through the unit card holder you can attack an enemy ship in the port without blockading it. This is actually great.
On the matter of retreating units I feel that the armies tend to run for "home" while fleets just randomly pulls away in any direction which makes it harder to effectively control the seazones. CA should def look into this for the next patch.

It would be great if the AI factions could also do it, but I've never seen them attack my ships in port. Either the bug/feature must be removed or the AI must be changed to make use of it.
