Need help translating something in Arabic

Can anyone please tell me what "Bismillah in Rahman a Rahmin" means in Arabic, if anything? My brother's nutty histroy teacher assigned it as a vocab word. She also claimed that she was once shot in a black market, but an Arab cut open her chest using a plastic knife and gave her a heart massage, so I wouldn't be surprised if she made this up. Any help could be useful for my brother, thanks. And if you don't know, feel free to share stories about such people as this teacher.

seems very unlikely because just widening the intercostal muscles with it probably wouldn't be enough.

that's the meaning of "bismilallah irahman irahim" (that's the way i've seen it transliterated... just in case mouzafphaerre's response was too cryptic for you ~;)).

Yes, I knew it was a Muslim holy saying, but I couldn't find the Allah part. ~;)

My knowledge of Arabic starts at Allahu akhbar, and ends there. ~D

I thought it was something looking more like Bismi'Allah i'Rahman a Rahmin? As in, with the word 'Allah' more obvious. Must be my obsession with Allah. @_@ ~;p

Allah (الله) is the proper name of God in the Abrahamic religion and in Islam. Ilah (اله) is the Arabic for God.
