I'll post this here for the attention of all until it gets shipped off to the Arena.
I have posted here because this game is pretty similar to the TW franchise.
As the title suggests i bought IG today and launched straight into a campaign as Prussia. This game plays like Victoria what with research/population/food/gold/raw materials/construction and recruitment all being factors in the game. You also have to pay attention to your popularity with rival nations and your standing in the international community.
Its battle engine is not too hot however.Good troops who can melee are far more useful than ranged units if you charge immediately.I had a unit of 60 Line Infantry fire directly at a charging mass of 60 militia, inflicting only 4 casualties before they engaged in hand to hand contact and of course the militia won the battle. There are no fancy manouvres here. The guy with the numbers will usually win and normally by the margin of difference between troop numbers at the outset. The only way i have seen to reverse this when outnumbered is to bring cavalry and cannon to the party and hit them long range and flank when they charge.
That's all for now.I'll try to answer any questions if anyone is interested in finding out more or is considering buying this title.
