hello all i am Decebal and i'm from Romania, btw Decebal was a king of Dacia and beat the hell of the roman army in 101-102 bc, I just brought the Rome Total War and i pay for him about 1/4 of my income in a mounth ~:confused: but it deserve all the money

Ok, for those that do not want to whip out the translator,
I am The Germanic Centurion and I am a big fan of Rome: Total War.
Strategy gamer, that is me.
From what I have seen so far this game is great.
I was however annoyed at the fact that I could not save game in the tutorial?
I like to finish what I start but I understand what the folks at Creative Assembly were probably thinking.
Who wants to mess around with a Tutorial?
By the way,
How do you guys like working for Sega? Moushi Moushi...

Hey I'm new here and badly need some help.
Firstly I just bought this darn game and need to find someplace in this forum that explains what the new updates do to tweek or improve my game.
When I mean new I mean I am very new! I played around with the game long enough to notice in MTW that I can update my Royal Knights early into High or Late period knights. That's how new I am. I feel a bit cheated also as I didnt buy the VI expansion which would have allowed me to play more factions than the first MTW version has.
So for a man who all of a sudden has found time on his hands to play this cool game, can anyone help me with what I'm talking about???
Is it possible to update my game without buying the VI expansion to play other faction???
lastly please find me in this forum site that explains to me what the new updates compose of... meaning what it fixes, improves, modifies.
AGIAN I"M SOOO NEW with this game. SOS! HELP ME PLEASE.

I'm brazilian. Big fan of strategy games (very short but classy selection). STW and MTW are among my all time favorite games. I've been following the ORG for a long time (over 5 years I think) but never had the time to post until now.

Kayapó is the name of a indian tribe in Brazil. I'm an antropologist and I work with public politics toward etnic minorities. So I chose this nick because of that.

I've had MTW for about two years now, but having the comp I usually play it on about 300 miles away from me for a year kinda hampered my plans of European domination. So far I've mostly been playing with the Danes, but am currently in the process of kicking the Elmos out of Iberia. Must get back to that now. :bow:

I am from Scotland and am very new to the world of Rome:Total War.

I remember trying the demo for Shogun all those years ago and thinking this
is exactly the sort of game I was looking for. Until the tutorial got to the part with the spearmen chasing archers that would shoot, miss and run over and over and over. All the while the spearmen kept chasing but never catching them. On and on. Forever. Pure boredom. I never got any further into than that.

Then I heard of a Medieval version. Knights and sieges and crusades. How cool did that sound? I couldnt wait to catapult plague ridden corpses into my enemies cities. Nearly bought it too but the image of the spearman and the archer locked in their endless dance kept my money in my pocket (theres a moral in there somewhere).

It took a long time to get Rome. I reckon I have had it for all of 7weeks now. Finally convinced to buy it by the movies and pics from websites like Gamespy and various reviews. What can I say? Loving it. I love the crushing victories and the Phyrric (sp?) ones, the humiliating defeats and the really close ones that have me shouting and screaming at the screen (oh dear!) like
it matters.

I like trying out the ideas from this forum like "relocating" your starting province en mass like taking Germania to Rome. Class.

Oops. Thats a long winded way of saying "Hi, I'm the new guy!" ~:)

Hi there gmjapan. Hope you have a nice time here. You should buy MTW. It is very good, and the AI is far superior to that of RTW. And as for your experience with the demo of STW, you shouldn't have been discouraged from buying it over that single problem. After all, all Demo's have their problems, which are usually fixed in the finished game.

Like you I was atracted to the Total War series by the Shogun demo, and after many attempts I managed to eventually finish that demo.
I however missed out on Medieval but bought Rome on it's day of release and have been playing it ever since.

Hail! I am the Varangian Beserker and my home is the Lone Star State (Tx, USA). I've always had an interest in Medieval European history and just had to buy the MTW:VI bundle! So far, my favorite factions have to be the Byzantines (Varangian Guard), the Danes (Vikings), and the Germans (some of my ancestors came from there). I'll probably get the S:TW Bundle and R:TW (Plus the upcoming Late Rome/Early Dark Ages Expansion Set!) eventually, but my real passion is Medieval European Millitary history, not the Greco-Roman Era, or the Japanese Shogunate.

And, as you can tell (Varangian Guard and other Viking Units), I am a big fan of the Viking Units! :medievalcheers:

To be promoted to a Senior member you have to had contributed majorly to the forums. Post count has nothing to do with it though. ~:)

well you didn't have an edit button, couldn't vote in polls, couldn't post in backroom, couldn't use a custom member title and did have less avatars.

those rules are still used, the new thing is that you can't post in a lot of forums. ~:)

Hey everyone! I'll give myself a little intoduction.

I am 16 years old and I live in the USA.

I love the Total War games and am currently starting up a new passion with the Medieval game.

I'm a self-taught historian. No joke. Granted, I don't know EVERYTHING but if it has to do with the Napoleonic era or the Third Reich I could really dispense a lot of information.

My new passion is Medieval history. I find this one of the most interesting pieces of European history because of it's almost chaotic atmosphere. Although I find our sterotyping of it as a time of pure evil and non-enlightenment too assuming.

I also like gaming just in general. It's all good and fun.

My classm8 war4ever played stw we at my home and wishes to have it too. so it's just one. we dropped by musicstore yesterday but they couldn't order it. dixons, free record shop, and intertoys didn't have it either (not asked to order yet, so that might work)

btw it's prolly a bit hard for him to order at internet... bank account stuff isn't that easy. a store would be great

Well, you're currently a junior member. This means that you can only post in the 'New members' forums i.e. this one and the guides. After a (fairly) short period of time, if you post reasonably frequently, politely, and in a manner that contributes to a discussion (basically, just be nice), then you will become a full member and you can post on all the public forums.

Hello friends! I am new here. I am playing for the first time, (Medieval of course) and I may need some help with this Golden Horde rather soon.

This is a great game, although my idealistic attempt to build a peaceful (except in defence) Muslim trading empire is looking more and more impossible. Even though I only play once or twice a week, I am always worrying about my "people". It is endlessly fun to watch history change on the computer (unlike real life).

Hello everyone.I'm new here.Just recently purchased Medieval Total War.
Absolutely love it!I like wargaming in general.Most of my time has been spent playing Steel Panthers:World At War.Learned a lot from forums dedicated to that game,met some nice people,and learned quite a bit of history too.
I hope to have that same experience here.

Hello and Welcome Ravenspur and Napoleon526! Ravenspur, you will definitely learn some things from the game, and probably be lead to lots of interesting readings from this forum. I have actually learned more about economics since buying this game than I ever would have otherwise, the subject never interested me before.

In TW you will find that without some economic curiosity on your part, your people will eventually pay more than a financial price!
