Im sorry if i appear to be bombarding everyone with questions lately. Having said that, here goes another one....

I have recently been experimenting the the battle editor to create historical and custom battles. Following this (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=49973) thread i have made a custom settlement wall plan using Adherbal's wall editor. I decided to run a quick test before placing this and placed a predefined settlement (barbarian fort) on the map in the editor. I then placed two armies, deployment zones, victory conditions etc. When i save this and load it from the historical battles menu, the settlement has disappeared, only the floor textures remain. I repeated the creation, saved it and looked in the descr_battle.txt and there is nothing related to a settlement as there is in say the siege of sparta hisotrical battle descr_battle.txt.

My question is: how do i get the settlement to appear?

Is it necessary to edit the actual campaign map to make it show up? I would hope not. Or do i need to manually input all the settlement parameters into the descr_battle.txt file manually? Or am i just doing something silly. Being new to all this it is very confusing and my trial and error experiments do not really take me anywhere.

The question is, what SORT of thing did you place on the map, i.e. a real settlement or just an ambient building? And if a real settlement, was the battle then a siege, or not? All of these things matter.

As i was using the fort model it did not give me the option to add it as an ambient building, the tick box is not there. I have just tried using a city settlement and this does have an ambient building check box. Using ambient makes the building arrive, solid on the battlefield. As to siege, as this was being saved as a historical battle i could not see any option to enable or disable a siege battle unlike in the custom battle screen. Would this have to be done via a text file?

I was using the fort model originally because the interior plan was small and unassuming and i thought it could probably be tucked away at the top of the hills. If it is necessary to use a city, is there a way to remove the actual settlement interior, buildings, roads and underlay flooring?

Thankyou for your help dsyrow1.
