I ran the chat with my mIRC script without any problems at about 6 am (GMT+2) Now it's about 12 am here, I can not run the chatroom in both ways, neither the Java client nor the mIRC scrpit.

They both give the same error. And I am already concerned that it has nothing to do with my configuration. K-lining is a host banning type, maybe z-lining is alike and mistakenly done. I don't know.

Sorry about not writing a little update earlier. There's a new chat, you found out I guess. It offers the Java chat like the previous one, but as that caused problems, it also offers mIRC (it always was possible to do so, but :embarassed: ). You can use any IRC client. When setting up a client manually: server irc.enterthegame.com, channel tworg and select a nick.

When you can use Javachat, you don't have to do anything.

When you click mIR script, you should download and install the mIRC client. The only configuration you need to do then is open the program and enter a nick, then close it. When you click hat w/ mIRC then, the MIRC program will start and after an ok you'll be directed to the same chatroom.

Any other problem is probably related to a firewall blocking.

Is this chat fine?

Edit: noted the problem with new window, should be fixed now.

My "zline problem" is back again after one day of temporary relief. Everytime I try to connect, I get this error :

P.S. I have not firewalls installed or enabled, neither hardware nor software based. I can connect to some other IRC servers right now. Only Enterthegame.com IRC server gives such an error.

That message doesn't ring a bell. The enterthegame network is a gaming network and so it might may could be that some comment (too OT) resulted in a kick by the #chanserv admin. But I think it's unlikely. I recall that it has some policies about swearing, 18+ and warez, but not that it limits normal conversations about whatever. where's that URL.. http://www.enterthegame.com/etg-rules.htm I don't see such restrictions, anyone else?

I've been hanging out on the chatroom for a couple of days now, and my experience is that people do in fact log on from time to time, but if there's not immidiate activity they log off again. Five minutes after they've logged off, a new guy appears and does the same. This way the Total War chatroom will never have any real activity, it becomes an evil circle.

Thing is, only very few IRC channels have constant activity throughout the day, that's not how it works. You log on, hang around, doing the other things you usually do on your computer whith IRC just running in the background, and check in now and then to see if there's anyone talking.

This way the chatroom will actually gain more participants, which in turn will lead to...yes, an active Total War community just like this one, only on IRC. :bow:

Yeah, I've seen this a lot. I generally keep it running in the background and try to catch people before they leave, but it is still very common that they will just pop in and then leave almost immediately.

Other than, hypothetically speaking, the #channel admin bot taking action against you for whatever, which I doubt looking at the policies, you have not been banned from the tworg channel.

I just noticed that IPs starting with 85.98 and 85.99 belong to Turkey. I do not know if it covers any other continuing or previous numbers. So in case the IRC server banned a load of range starting with 85.98 and so on, there is no way I'll be entering to chat with a simple IP change. Because a new one will start with 85... number series as well.

Since I am a dynamic IP ADSL user, my external IP changes from time to time especially in case I go offline and reconnect. However reconnection does not always mean a brand new IP, it is all in hands of our local DNS server of internet service provider.

I tried to contact Enterthegame networks by their chat assistance which failed to reply. I just tried to change my dynamic IP into a static one by the use of No-IP software. It did not work.

Briefly, I'll be testing some proxy softwares and servers as TosaInu instructed (thanks for his consideration), or try to change my IP by other software means in case proxy servers do not work for me..
