Since people are getting confused again I took the time to compile all of the necessary mod files into a single dload. The file is 8MB in size which is not that bad. It contains everything needed from the all factions mod to the corrected v1.04 patch. All you need to do is copy the files into your data directory (make sure to back up your original files).

I've looked at the file and I think there should be 1 correction:
The file descr_regions.txt (dec 6th, 2005 22:51) in the ROME/data/world/maps/base folder should be deleted and be replaced by the file descr_regions.txt (dec 7th, 2005 15:34) witch is now in the ROME/data folder.

People remind this is just for the mod! NOT for the scripts.
If you're confused about this all and/or have any doubts about your installed mod, download this total version (after the file mentioned above is corrected) and reinstall over everyhting else. It won't hurt your previous installation(s). :san_wink:

Im just going to send the files to to player number four (scythia) then and skip germania until a replacement can be found.

Regarding the filling in by new players:
Before I used to send emails and PMs (and make posts) to tell people that there is an opening and they can play (or to ask people if they're still in the game) and waited for them to respond. Unfortunately the response has almost always been very disappointing (non-existing :san_angry: ) so I will not go through all that trouble anymore. (almost always, not always :san_wink: )

Instead I would like to see that (future) players take responsibility for themselves; becoming active instead of being passive. Afterall, if someone wants to play, he or she will most probably make some effort of it and go through the latest posts he or she hasn't read yet to keep themselves informed.

Therefor I will (remain to) post in this thread if there is an opening, and the players/reserves concerned can respond to that post. I will not however keep sending PMs and emails and hope for them to respond.

However it will not be a complete 'first call, first play' thingy. The ordernumber the players are on the (reserves)list will still determine who plays if the posts from the people involved are reasonably close after each other. Since 'reasonably' however is no absolute value, and can be and usually is debated by the parties involved, regarding this subject however we will not. (I will simply flip a coin :san_tongue: )
The same goes for players who are already 'in the game' but from witch we haven't heard in a while.

So in the interest of keeping things going...

while noone from the reserves responds, I suggest we will go on with the started MP game, and we will 'skip' the factions' turns witch have no corresponding players yet by 'simply' ending their turns without moving their units...

After all, players can always join in... :duel:

well I'm already Armenia, but if you want a player who is actively ingaged in all this and WILL respond to posts and messages I'd be glad to play both Armenia and Rome. I dont beleive this will give me any more advantage in the game, and truth-be-told I dont care how I do because this is only a beta test, a stepping stone to something greater.

You only need the v1.04_MPmod_full_install.zip. I made that specifically so that people wouldnt have to dload several different versions. The file contains everything you need for the mod from the allfactions mod to modpatch v1.04.

You zip is corrupt when I try to save as and it downloads I try to open it and I get a corrupt file message...
Also its kinda small...the zip.
Whats the problem?

Reading through all the latest posts here, I have to ask:

What is going on here?

Sorry to shout, but I'm getting a bit confused by all this...

Why isn't the game going forward?

And why do people not respond? One day people are screaming they want in, and when they can play a faction or have to do something (like make a turn or start the Campaign!) then they give no reply at all ?

Is it because everyone is having trouble with the RTR mod? Then by al means, let us play regular RTW!

Is it because the scripts made by Myrddraal are too difficult?

And why are there new MP games being set up????

And Hellenes, as one of the creators, why do you need to download the mod?????????

Guys, just for the record... I'm not organizing this. I'm not the creator or builder of any mod, script or file. I'm just an ordinary RTW player who would love to play a Multiplayer Campaign, just like you. All I'm doing is trying to help the creators, and try to put some order in the chaos so this game will get going (although I must say that it's taking a lot of energy this way).

So my question(s) remain: why isn't this working? Why aren't we playing?

Anyhow, regarding updating the playlist:

Gaugamela and E.T. : sure you're in! Did you ever doubt it?

Flipped a coin for you. Gaugamela = Rome (Julii), E.T. = Numidia. Is that ok?

Since I can't get access to the webpage provided by LordRaiden, I will make a new post with an updated playerlist.

But I must say that I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth the effort or not... :san_undecided:

I am out of town the next week anyway. SO I guess i can wait for the next spot.

I guess it is for the best as this has all clearly become a huge, disorganized, mess that is never going to actually get more then a few turns in if it gets started at all.

Oh and I suggest you pick a person to be "in charge". Extra work but this is not gonna run without an organizer.

*hey guys ... back i wast able to connect for a few days.
the thread didnt advance to much but for some reason its like skipped a bit.
well as i remember i was after oaty in the reserve pool. oaty got in.
then i read a post by e.t and some other guy that want to have myrddraal files and want to be in the game and krek who very well orgenazied a list suddenly let them what faction they want. and for some reason i was forggoten plus i didnt got myrddraal files.
i think krek did a great job and LordRaiden help by putting it in the same page,
but i see no updates and page 16/17 confused me even more. i will be glad to see update about installtion.

So it works, but one has to edit a few corrections in 3 scriptfiles.
You also have got to have an edited file if you play as one of the three factions as described above in the links (Germania, Seleucid, Scythia).

So, to sum up I've corrected those files and with the approval of Myrddraal send them a week ago to the players involved. However since there are so many switches in the players (and I don't know how to upload a file on this board), I'll show people how to correct it by themselves:

There are 3 instances when you may have to change something:

(1) If you play as Germania do the following:
in the file called 'germans.txt' in RTW/data/scripts/show_me/MP_campaign folder, the next player should be Scythia (now it says Britons), so replace that 2 times so lines 9 and 10 now read:

monitor_event FactionTurnStart FactionType scythia
console_command control scythia

(2) The same goes for the Seleucids. If you play them, do the following:
in the file called 'seleucid.txt' in RTW/data/scripts/show_me/MP_campaign folder, the next player should be Egypt (now it says Carthage), so replace that 2 times so lines 8 and 9 now read:

monitor_event FactionTurnStart FactionType egypt
console_command control egypt

(3) If you play as Scythia, you have to edit the file called 'export_descr_advice.txt'. Search (using 'find' or 'control-F' or whatever) in this file for the text: "Help_Game_Options_Scroll_Text_01".

Now the last 3 lines of that paragraph read:

Title Help_Game_Options_Scroll_Text_01_Title
Script scripts\show_me\MP_Campaign\script.txt
Text Help_Game_Options_Scroll_Text_01_Text1

Replace that with:
Title MP_Campaign_Title
Script scripts\show_me\MP_Campaign\scythia.txt
Text MP_Campaign_Text1

That's all!

Krek: I couldn't agree more, and it's something that's starting to get annoying. As I said earlier, I think a seperate topic is needed with the opening post containing links to all the files and detailed installation instruction, along with rules, and a (current and frequently updated!) list of who is playing as which faction. Only developers would be allowed to post there.

Some order is definitely needed to keep things organized.

why shouldn't you play in two campaigns, its not as if playing one turn is going to stop you playing another?

It would need to contact a 'host' which would just be a bit of webspace, which would contain two files

Also, if people DO play in both games, and the games use different RTW styles (like vanilla and RTR light) then they must do a double install from the Myrddraal scripts. This is because the sequence of play will most probably be completely different and therfore the scripts will not be interchangeable.

Or, if it's not clear enough: Myrddraal custommade the scripts for the RTR light version and custommade them for the Vanilla version. Don't mix them up!

Also, has shifty left this game to join the other?

@Shifty: are you still in on this one? I hope so.

STARTING THE GAME

@ET: Well, officially we already have started the game. We skipped Numidia's first turn, and then it was Shifty's turn as Thrace.

However since we haven't heard from him here the last couple of days and since the next player is Germania, witch is also not sure to be filled yet, I suggest that, once you've installed the nessecary files, you restart a new Imperial Campaign as Numidia (it's not that we are far in the game, quite the opposite actually). This way you can still make your moves.

Follow the instructions provided to use the script, save the game, exit and send the quicksave.dat to Shifty157 (presuming he's still in...)

May I also suggest that before you start the Campaign, you select the unit size to "Large", and the difficulty for both on level "Medium", since all things will be autoresolved.

Hopefully we can finally really start this Multiplayer Campaign with Global Conflict, Wars and Backstabbing diplomacy in time for Christmas... :san_grin:

Cheers, but maybe another time. Except for actual testing or modding I'm glad to help in any way I can in ways I can, such as writing up more detailed diplomatic rules/ideas or theories on how the game should be played.

Normally I would handle the situation reasonably and hand you Julii, but you seem to have the discussion skills of a 13 year old so I refrain. This is a beta test, not a game to win. Krek flipped the coin out of the only two who replied to his forum post and I won. It is a simple fact and has been decided on for days now, frankly I would love to have you play and take your rage out on me in game if you are against me so much. Please don't complain on the forum, take it in game.

I hope everyone had a great holiday and that we can get going on this soon. The best of wishes to all and im looking forward to some productive bloodshed.

after visiting like an idiot the forum every day i feel stupid to lose my position becuase i burned my vido card. well you must understand that if i had a computer at this time i wouldnt care to much becuase i was able to keep my place. but it is very upseting that exectly at the time i didnt had computer krek posted the post and you guys replyed. i wasnt able at this 3 days to post a comment and that why i really upset.

Dude, I don't even now where to begin to react to your rage. I haven't responded the last couple of days in the hope you cooled down, and fortunately you have.

So, if you still feel 'mistreated', then let me remind you on the following:

(1) There are over 15 players already IN the campaign who want to play Rome who were here way before you came along. They would have wanted to stop playing their current faction and switch to Rome/Julii. You were still on the waitinglist (as was Gaugamela). This means that if everyone was to 'pull rank' as you did, there were over a dozen people before you in line who had more 'right' to take Rome/Julii. They didn't. They didn't wine about it. They want to play the game and get going.

(2) If we filled in the open factions the old way (as you 'demanded'), then you would have been playing Numidia, not Rome. Numidia was open way before Rome was. Rome would then have gone to Tyrac. And since he hadn't responded, it would have gone to E.T., who in stead is now playing Numidia. You don't hear him crying about it, right?

(3) I haven't forgotten about you. In fact I appreciate you being around here very often.

I suggest however that we forget about what happened, have no hard feelings toward eachother and concentrate on the game ahead. ~:cheers:

Regarding point (3) above: that's why I'm welcoming the fact that you play as Germania. Since the previous player of Germania (LittleGannon) and I had made a mutual-protection pact to defend ourselves from invasion by Rome, the Hellenistic and eastern factions. This is necessary since in the long run they could easily wipe us out. Especially considering they have made pacts themselves. And so I am still hoping we could do the same, since you are around often enough to 'talk' and agree on strategy etc. and are probably as enthousiastic about the game as I am.

However you must play Germania as you want to. So although you don't 'revenge' ingame (as you described a friend of yours does with risk), it is up to you. But we'll leave the negotiations for our PM's (private messages) since it is of no interest to the people on this board.~;)

there is so many downloads that it confused me. then finally when i get an email it is only with the save game because shiffty thought i already have the rest.

@Dead_Like_Me: Also, once you've installed the sciptfiles, you have to change the text in one of the files a bit. I typed it a couple of posts back and for your ease I've copied-pasted the bit concerning Germania:

(1) If you play as Germania do the following:
in the file called 'germans.txt' in RTW/data/scripts/show_me/MP_campaign folder, the next player should be Scythia (now it says Britons), so replace that 2 times so lines 9 and 10 now read:

monitor_event FactionTurnStart FactionType scythia
console_command control scythia

so what version do i need to download i have myrddraal files but i now i have a clean copy of RTW patch 1.3. the following steps are :
* installing RTW
* installing patch 1.3
* isntalling the mod ?.?
* installing myrddraal files
* playing and sending to the next in line... ( krek pls refresh you old list )

sorry i am taking it slow... i really want the game to move smoother but since i am playing from my 3rd computer ( one i need to fix the vidio card and the other my sister use it ) so i had a problem.

As you may remember reading I have made the complete cycle of factions for a couple of gameturns a week or two ago, and all the scipts for the different factions worked (beside some minor issues with Germania, Seleucids and Scythia as I posted before, see https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showpost.php?p=1014776&postcount=538 ).

Also it shouldn't matter wether advice is turned on or off, since you are the one 'initiating' the help function. I've tried it with mine and it works anyway. (However, it wouldnt hurt either, so...)

The only things I can think of right now are things you probably thought of yourself.
Like:

did you correctly copy the correct 'export_descr_advice.txt' for the Greek_cities to your data folder (and overwriting the old one) ?

and

are the files for the ingame text of the advisor correctly installed? Meaning is the 'MP_campaign' folder correctly placed in your 'show_me' folder ? (so the scripts are in the RTW/data/scripts/show_me/MP_campaign folder)

But like I said, you probably thought of this already. :sad:

Other then that, the only thing I can think of is that when you start a new Imperial Campaign as you probably did, the sequence of play is mixed up. So if you start as the greek_cities, you are the 1st in line to play, not the 11th. (Also you are directly followed by Numidia, not Spain.) Perhaps this interferes with your scripts, although I do not see how. :worried:

All I can say is (as I've said before) I've tried all the factions in sequence (simulating an MP game) and it worked. Hmm...:thinking:

How to install:

Extract the contents of General_Files.zip to the folder
C:\Program
Files\Activision\Rome - Total War(v1.3)\Data

Open Faction_Specific_Files.zip, and copy the contents of
the folder
with your faction name ONLY to C:\Program
Files\Activision\Rome - Total
War\Data

How to play:

1: When you recieve the file named Quicksave.sav, place it
in Program
Files/Activision/Rome - Total War/saves
2: Load RTW, and load the quicksave game.
3: As soon as the game loads, press escape, the menu should

5: The advisor should appear, click Show Me How
6: Play your turn as normal

i tried starting an imperial campaign without auto manage and then load the quick load. the results were negetive no effect. :(

so if there is some one ealse pls reply and we could finish this vote without any problem.

* ET - if you started a new campaign without auto manage this might be a bigger problem, because restart might not solve the problem. and since we all send the save game to each other all players will suffer with the auto manage inclueding you in your second turn so if there is no quick solution then we might check the scripts again i really dont want to play with that auto S**T !!!

Also: "Do it quick" ? Since as you claim E.T. hasn't spend much time on it, you will not either, will you? If E.T.'s moves are of no consequence, then neither will yours, now will they?

However, I'll stop before I'm (rightfully) being acquised of beating a dead horse. So as I stated above, I agree with the fact that we should play without management.

Continuing on that, if we are hesitant about restarting, then perhaps a vote will help. (Although we shouldn't wait to long for everyone to vote, since we have got to keep this game going). But perhaps we should simply consult the people who have already played.

Isnt it possible to turn off auto manage by hitting escape in a game? If not esc, can't you turn it off in the "manage tab" with the faction graphs.. and economy section. Sorry I don't know where exactly but I could have sworn you can change it there without starting a new campaign. I would recomend against taking a vote since its hard to get people together without a 7 day timespan either, so id say just restart if you cannot manually change it

so i think we should play very hard on the campaign map and maybe hard\medium on the battles since we dont fight them yet our selves.
medium in the campaign make it easy and i am saying that becuase when you are on very hard you care alot to your money and happieness of your people i played for ex : with the julii VH\VH ( julii are easy as well ) and i found myself controlling the whole map except the roman friends which hold 20 proviences
with the love of the people full pluse the sente loved me and i got 5 out of 6 places in the lead of the sente and all most all of my proviences were green and only few where yellow all that before 220 bc and with too much cash.

and once again i am sorry if i hurt anyone specially i am sorry if you were hurt krek ... just in case you get suspicious that maybe i have a mental problem that i have too much opinions dont worry :P

luck one ... you got the mecedon. for some reason they dont last long in the game but i still like them. i think black is a good coler to rule :).

julii is red and black and mecedon is black and red so its kind of the same :dizzy2:

It is only one Vanilla advisor file that is replaced, export_descr_advice.txt, the other file by Myrddraal is a new one (are in fact one for every faction).

I've send you the Vanilla export_descr_advice.txt file.

ok let me put it straight... i wanted to play as Rome Julii. i am Germany now because when my computer was off for few days some one else took the faction because he Replied here !!!

Excuse me but being part of this forum is not a "rule" as you put it. Predator signed up for this game 5 months ago when it was first announced and has been waiting since then for this game to begin. I wont let him be kicked just because some new upstart whos only been around for a week or two is annoyed because Predator isnt a member of this forum. You also seem to forget that the vast majority of players signed up for this game havent been heard from for weeks if not months. We dont know if they even remember there is a game but thats ok. Dont even begin to argue with me about something when you ahve no grounds to back it up.

Predator stays. He will leave if and only if i say that he has left the game. I will not argue this further.

Oh. And by the way. Predator sent the file to whoever is next in line yesterday.

guys since myrddraal is busy and he isnt on this forum recently for his own reasons. i ask all player that plays his turn to send the mail to me myrddraal and the next player. all must notify here in a quick reply that they have played there turn so anyone could see when the thread jumps upwards.

any update in the player list will be posted. in a new reply so people would not have to start spending time changing pages.

Sorry i havent been on the forums the last few days. It seems the worst has happened. Predator's email went down and he didnt realize it until a few days later so he wasnt sure if he had managed to get the savefile sent in time. He did send it but it seems he sent it after his email died. I told that the file didnt send and he doesnt know how soon his email will be fixed so he decided to step out so that the game could continue.

So Germania has the latest savefile.

This script which you are releasing is (I believe) as script that player1 deduced from a very early version of the hot seat mod I posted at the .org. I believe that with the build of the script you are using, the AI takes over and finishes the turn of the faction you have just switched from, this means it can't be used as a 'hot seat' mod. I've corrected that now, and I hope you all enjoy the finished product.

If this continues, I think I'll just explode. Dead like Me, feel free to take the turn for me, right now I've got too much on my plate. Sorry.

6a) Download descr_regions.rar here (witch probably should have been called patch v1.03):

6b) Unpack/Unrar descr_regions.con to your 'Rome - Total War/data/world/maps/base' and overwrite files when prompted

7) Delete file called 'map.rwm' in your 'Rome - Total War/data/world/maps/base' folder, or you won't be able to train new units!

8a) Open General_Files.zip that you recieved in your e-mail from Myrddraal
8b) Unpack/Unzip General_files.zip to 'Rome - Total War/data' and overwrite all files when prompted

9a) Open Faction_Specific_Files.zip that you recieved in your e-mail from Myrddraal
9b) Open YOUR FACTION'S FOLDER

9c) Unpack/Unzip the file listed in your factions folder to 'Rome - Total War/data' and overwrite all files when prompted

Well guys I installed everything and followed krek's dirrections, but I'm getting an error when I try to load RTW but not Bi. The error says this. Is there something I didn't do right? or did anyone else have this problem? and How do I know when my turn comes around? should I wait till someone tells me to play it?

Well if we can play through email with some HONOURABLE people that wouldnt cheat can you release it?
Also an idea: To transfer the campaigmap battles to MP battles and reversed the historical battles could be used to simulate 100% that since you can customize freely the historical battles, also the "spawn armies could be used to put the result of the mp battles back in the campaign...

I am currently trying to help with creating a script for a group on the RTR Forums that wish to write a multiplayer AAR of a campaign using the TFT Mod. I have read through your Hotseat script topic in the past and was quite interested in the possibilities. I have written separate scripts for each player and have gotten all but 2 to work satisfactorily. Here is the sequence of human players...

romans_julii (Caesar player)
romans_brutii (Crassus player)
romans_scipii (Pompey player)
parthia (Parthia player)
gauls (Gauls player)

As I mentioned, they are using the First Triumvirate (TFT) Mod, the Crassus campaign. I basically used the hotseat script you shared in the Hotseat topic here at the Guild for transferring control to the next player, for the Pompey player, Parthia player, and Gauls player. The 3 Roman factions are directly adjacent in the turn sequence, so a similar script will not work for the Caesar player and Crassus player (which you mention in the Hotseat script). I have moved other factions in the descr_strat.txt file to be between the roman_julii faction and the roman_brutii faction, along with between the romans_brutii faction and the romans_scipii faction, but when I use the hotseat script for transferring control, it still will not stop for the brutii and scipii factions. Am I missing something else I need to do to be able to use the script for transferring between factions that were formerly adjacent? Is there another file that determines the sequence of faction turns?

I wrote another script using the following to switch control between factions...

monitor_event FactionTurnStart FactionType romans_brutii
command_console control romans_brutii
The above works for transferring control from the romans_julii faction to the romans_brutii faction, but I do not get any beginning of the turn messages for the romans_brutii faction. This would be fine, but I'm worried that the brutii faction would not get any adoption messages or marriage messages. Is there something I can do to get the messages at the beginning of the brutii faction's turn?

Any help with either of these scripts would be appreciated. Thanks!

k guys ... as you noticed now we are not waiting for a replacement we are waiting for a player on the list. bonny was the last guy who played and he said he send it to the next guy LordRaiden who plays gual ... unfortounetly LordRaiden didnt send a reply till now so i am starting to think that maybe we should try to find him a replacement as well

another problem is that balrog couldnt run his game and ask a question here which none had helped him so i ask from people to go and look at the problem at page 23

Hi guys, how is the campaign going? Do we have a replacement for Scythia, are there other players missing, too,do i have to send my turn to someone else?
still waiting to hear something new ...(if we didn't get it, to make a whole turn until july, i will probably quit, too....~;) )

lol ... i understand you. well we having a little problem, i am not sure what i mean when i say "we" because its looks like that except you the replacement for sythia that the mod didnt worked for him and maybe another 2 that still keeping an eye open all the rest seems to disappered.

lots of people waited to this mp and now when its finally out none noticed that its out and all forgot about it ( i blame school :P )

any way its been a long time that no one is saying anything here to make sure whats going on ... basiclly its Lordraiden's turn but he is gone so i say that those who want to make this work need to gather new people .. we are already in guals turn so we arent going to restart even if those that played left ... so for now if you find new players ask them to join the forum and pm me or myrddraal so they could join...

i ask all that want to keep playing announce that again because i want to edit the player list and to see who is missing :)

if we want to get this to work we better find a way to wake those who sleep or find them replacement :D

i have your save bonny so you dont have much to worry for now but it will be good if you will keep visiting for farther notice
