I first played this Shogun:TW Game in 2000, I really miss the STW game so that I purchase a copy from eBay (Sold-Out version) and Installed it yesterday.

I know this game is with all kinds of problems and I have accumulated some experience to fix them during the past 5 years, however, i encounterd another problem yesterday which is new to me:

Whenever a Daimyo dies, the game freezes forever and Ctrl + Alt +Del won't help. otherwise this game runs perfert.

I spent good 5 hours reading this BBS last night but didn't found any solution to it, it seems to me that no one has encountered such a problem before?.

I tried serveral methods:

*reinstall the game- no luck
*patch to 1.02b - no luck
*run the Star Protection cleaner - no luck
*change the display mode to 16 bit - no luck
*update drivers for sound and video - no luck
*re-install Windows Media Player - no luck
*link all media files back to WMP- no luck
*download the newest codec in dxdiag - no luck
*switch off the sound accelerator - no luck
*run the game at the minimum requirment (low graphic, no sound, no 3D accelerator - no luck
*change the death poems MP3 files to a "fixed version" - no luck
*change mp3 files to WAV files and change them back with another codec- no luck

that was annoying because i really want to play this game during the weekend but it just didn't work for me...

I eventually found the solution: delete the "Poems" folder under "Voices" ("Foices" if you are listenning to Japanese voices). The Game then runs perfect (without sound for those poems)

What a $%^&@ game....EA should have done a better job on coding.

Hope that helps people, though no one is playing it now...?

BTW:

1. copy the files in the CDs into hard drive before installation will speed up the installation process by 50%

2. once installed, you can simply copy the game folder to another PC and play without installing it again, but you still need the Disk 1 to run it (or download a CD-Crack if you don't want to pay for the CDs again)

3. Is there anyone still playing this game? online?

4. could anyone recommend a good mod/patch/additonal campaign for this game?

Thanks, nice to meet all of you

we just came back from playing some MP games now,
Theres few posts about how you can get your game configured to play online so have a look,

Btw, you shouldnt leave point number 2 in your post,

posts like that will shurley be frowned upon by the staff "as its basically explaining how to make pirate copys of stw that are distributabe without the origional cd."
This could undoubtedly afect your status.

Also did you check that Windows media player was the default player to play the "poems" As that could have been the problem if it was not the default.
