NewScientist.com has an interesting article about US Department of Defense proposal to develop a lie detector (http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=mg18925335.800)that can be used without the subject knowing they are being assessed.

Yet another (secret) surveillance gadget to be added to an already staggeringly powerful state apparatus. And yet another machine that adds to the massive intelligence data overload that -- more often than not -- obscures possible threats and targets rather than highlight them.

It won't be long before the system beats itself, so we don't have to. :idea2:

So how is this different from looking someone in the eye and examining their physical expressions? Secret surveillance gadget indeed.

Maybe its been invented so there's a point to the questions you get asked at the airport.

Airline Woman: OK sir and do you have any offensive objects such as knives, firearms or explosives about your person or in your hand luggage?
You: No.
*beep* *beep* *beep*
Airline Woman: Just a minute sir, would you mind stepping into the room there behind that large mirror.

17 FBI operatives beat you into a bloody pulp and send you on a plane to Algeria to the care of Dr X.

So how is this different from looking someone in the eye and examining their physical expressions? It's not. There are trained experts who, no doubt, are better at detecting lies than even a standard polygraph, let alone a remote one- which doesnt exist yet, I might add.
Secret surveillance gadget indeed.Indeed.

I hope the wife don't find out about this!!!!:sweatdrop: :laugh4:My wife already has one Im afraid.

Will it still work if I extend my tin-foil hat to include a face mask?

...to spot signs of stress that might mark someone out as a terrorist or suicide bomber.

Yeah, 'being a suicide bomber: a main source of stress'.

Will it still work if I extend my tin-foil hat to include a face mask? You would have to wear the old Backroom Moderator suit Gregoshi gave me, a.k.a. the Full Tinfoil Jacket. The suit allows you to survive for a year in any environment that is poor in oxygen, human emotions and/or brain activity.
