I've been screwing around with the descr_strat file, and I think I screwed up my game. Does anyone have a copy of the original file, at C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\Data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign\descr_strat.txt? The things I messed with were:

faction egypt, religious caesar

and

faction romans_julii, comfortable caesar

Do a find for those and everything under that is what I've modified. I can't start any new campaigns, so please help!

If this is what you wanted.


Edit: If you add another shortcut to RTW on your desktop, and make sure the path ends on " -show_err.

E.g.: "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -show_err

Then, after exiting the programme, you can read what there was wrong.

That takes a long time...although I must admit that I have done just that myself about 3 times so far.

People, to stop things like this from happening you should ALWAYS back up your files before you make any changes !

Not necessarily. It depends on which version he is using. And I wouldn't want to find out what a 1.5 descr_strat.txt did to 1.3...simpler to reinstall. Just make sure you get rid of anything pertaining to RTW, INCLUDING those darn entries somewhere on the computer that screw up patching the game (such as 1.2...you used to have to delete certain lines elsewhere so you could actually patch the game...not sure about 1.3/1.4 and 1.5/1.6).
