This was last night at a concert held by my local radio station. It's called Bone Bash VIII. They had Laidlaw(missed them sadly), Pat Travers Band who put on a very good performance. Yet, Kenny Wayne Shepherd's band killed playing a lot of Blues songs including many from "The King" (aka. B.B. King) and they were just fantastic and I wish they kept playing. They also did Voodoo Child by Jimi Hendrix which included Kenny playing the guitar behind his head for about a minute or two on a (what seemed) 10 minute riff that was out of this world and it was the closest I will ever come to hearing a Jimi Hendrix song live done the way it probably was done when he was still alive, just INCREDIBLE!!!

15 minutes after they played... LYNYRD SKYNYRD(I hope Strike For The South is reading this lol) played(the main course of the whole concert). I had always heard them on the radio and just recently(before the concert) bought an album of theirs. I was floored by how amazing they were/are on stage. It was absolutely incredible and I lost my voice singing just about every song that they sung and it was not even half-way done! [they started at like 9:15 and played till about 11:20ish not really sure] After they "finished" up with "Sweet Home Alabama" they left the stage and everybody in wondering, "why the hell did they not play "FREEBIRD" which of course we chanted here and there amid the screams, yells(mostly drunken yells anyways), and whistles. Sure enough, they came back on to a torrid of noise that the crowd was making and almost in unison loudly and as clearly they could say, "FREEEEBIIIIRD!!!!". To say the least they brought down the house and finished off a great concert.

Ow, ow.... The Godfather music is splendidly beautiful. It even makes a person such as I rejoice :no:

I musically/artistically sense the exact flow high, mid, and low, the manner in which the writer has intended the music to be, the movement, the intensity of emotional substance to influence the listeners, the beautiful artlike nature, etc.

Notable pieces of the soundtrack are:

1. The Godfather Waltz -- beautiful
3. The Pickup -- very beautiful with good flow
6. Sicilian Pastorale -- the opening is noteworthy
7. Godfather Love Theme -- the choir, the choir and the strings near the end.... most satisfactory :no:
10. The New Godfather -- approximately at 1:20 the change.... ahh, it is well done
11. The Mpeptism -- a splendid piece with the use of an organ. Beautifully utilized in the movie itself. It urges me to barge into a church and claim its organ all day and night to play.
12. The Godfather Finale -- the intense sudden upcoming choir and strings, one must heed the beautiful bass flow, and then the sudden change/contrast as the music changes to a quiet soothing dramatic piece... then the other changes... the flow of that chromatic-like middle voice... *wipes away a tear* :no:

He's got a point. They want to be Hendrix so much it hurts. But so what? If you like that 60's rock sound, why not listen to a 2007 band making that sound? So long as you don't kid youself they are doing anything new, you can still enjoy it. (NB I am not for one moment suggesting they are in Jimmy's league. No one is).

Basically its a cross between 80% improved Datsuns and, say, 20% Kings of Leon. I like it, but I wouldn't pretend its the years most essential album.
