Oh man... Oh man oh man... You guys have to put these cities into EB... Those look spectacular... They would make the campaign map look so much better it's unbelievable...

But what about eastern and barbarian type cities? Any designs for these?

Those ships and diplomats look awesome as hell too... Can you get them in there? That would just be the icing on the delicious chocolate topped, whipped cream centered cake that is EB.

He made them for his Res Gestae mod. We've no desire to steal his thunder - everyone can download RG and see how they like them when he releases them. If he lets EB use them later then we'd be very happy.

I've just been reading the Res Gestae forums and i saw his campaign map... Seems it is the exact same map that RTR is using for their next build... So i'm sure he will let EB use the cities if he will let RTR use the map...

I think it was Res Gestae that pioneered the tilted map.

Those stratmap models do look fantastic. Would they show up that way in the distance on the battlefield too? One thing in EB I love is that I seem to be fighting near cities a lot more often, and it's great seeing a city or town on the plain below; it'd be even better if the models were as stunning as Prometheus'.

Slightly related, are those weird flat coastal squares fixed in 1.5? Where there should be a port there'd be a flat area, for instance.

The Res Gestae and RTR maps were engineered completely seperately, and as far as I know, neither was based off the idea of the other (having access to the RTR dev forum, I can see that the idea was thrown around for several months before the actual map preview for 7.0 was released, but I do not remember when the RG map was first shown). They are very similar, I'll admit, but there are notable differences.

Anyway, those cities do look excellent ~D I noticed them in the RG previews recently and thought that they were a great idea. I'm not too sure about the fleets, though; they are huge, while the cities are tiny. But then, that's no different to the current "giant characters" thing that RTW has going on...

the RG map was developed far befoure than the Actual RTR map , I even propesed lot of time ago to EB , but they refused its inclination , I developed this solution ot cut out lot of useless land like deserts and unhabited steppes , so after this I incamerated it into my own mod and thiw was more than a year ago , much more .....

I think he refers to the city representations on the campaign map and not the map itself. Which, BTW, look far nicer than the current cities, in my opinion.

Just out of curiosity, why does EB dislike the tilted map? Although the Sauromatae would lose a lot of playground, I wouldn't consider the loss of the northern steppes very important.

Hm. I do like the fact that Africa is downsized and there's more India, but it does detract from the vastness of the steppe. It would become too easy to conquer for settled nations, whereas this never really happened. It keeps the nomads on the steppe, raiding the surrounding cities, whilst the settled peoples defend and will struggle to make inroads in the cavalry dominated steppe. The steppe people were a constant nuisance and sometime threat to settled people, and it would do them a disservice to reduce their homeground and bunch them up, making them easier to conquer.

Particularly since one of the new factions appears to be Scythian, to keep the Sauromatae company, it keeps things balanced the way they were historically.

Mind you, RG and RTR maps look damn nice and there's no doubt it allows for more focus in the centre; though really, I don't think EB lacks in this department.

I see. Thanks for answering.
