Man, love those cut-scenes already!!! :2thumbsup:
Wish I could look at the movies in higher resolution though. And concerning the last video: Is it the spy coming out of the ally or the soldier? :inquisitive:
Great find, thanks for the info!
Hhmm that is a good question :book: .
I think it is the spy.

Bit quick, hum, to change into all that armour. But on the other side he looked like such a smart-ass when he popped down his vizor that I'm not certain. :idea2:
Really need to have better resolution! :inquisitive:
Well I was more thinking if it was the original soldier then we probably would have seen him drag off the spy.
After all there is a cut after we hear the sound so who knows how long it took for him to change outfits.

You know what would be ideal? if there is a throne room.
This game would be COMPLETE.

Yeah that's the spy. He is bearded as the spy is.

You know as well as anyone else that bought the eras collection that CA won't be trying throne rooms for awhile yet.

What is the throne room anyway? People keep mentioning it and I have no clue what it is for. Is it an STW thing?

The Throne Room is an STW thing.
I say MTWII will be the best game TW game, it will trash STW and MTW and RTW. I have this feeling, and I can't wait for it. :2thumbsup:

The disappointing thing to me about these videos was that, at first sight, the campaign map has only been given some new spit 'n' shine, nothing else. Sure, the movies are back -- but has CA succeeded in letting the AI understand its new, more open, strategical environment? That remains to be seen.
Fortunately, these clips were short and little could be seen past an assassin moving around and nice short operation videos. So, not enough information regarding the movements of armies and the like by the AI to make a good judgement.
As far as the subject of the clips goes: is it me, or was there a movie, first for infiltration of the city, and only then for any possible mission? That sounds great to me. ~:)

You know -- you're right. And if all matters diplomatic and economic could be decided there, CA would actually provoke some drooling from me.

Well I hope they put back the 'squeezed too tight penalty' for men in melee who don't have 1 meter of space, and the 'range calculation and LOS' for individual men when shooting. The effect of rain on ranged units also seems to be missing, and it's not clear if cavalry suffer a combat penaly when fighting in trees. All these features were in the STW/MTW battle engine.
The series has seen a steady decline in the playbalance on the battlefield with each release. More effort is required in this area if this trend is going to be reversed in next game.

and a COMBAT penalty for surrounded/outflanked units, not just a morale penalty.

I realise this is not the place this discussion but I have to disagree with that one as it is an unnecessary abstraction give that the engine deals with individual soldiers and their fighting skills and penalizes them individually for attacks to the rear and flanks, but if they turn and face why should they have a combat penalty (individually)? I just think the engine is detailed enough not require this kind of abstraction.
On subject, I like the videos and the impression of "attention to the details" it gives the project as a whole...

first of all, if you know the enemy is all around you, causing a morale drop, this will certainly have an effect on your fighting performance.
next to that, battles were often "pushing contests", with both lines trying to push over/break through the enemy line. Spear armed units probably relied more on this then sword armed units, but it's true for all soldier types. Thus, if you are surrounded, you lose much of the support from the ranks in your back, resulting in decreased combat performance.

First thing, the videos were great... I hope everything lives up to the hype.
Second as for the debate about penalties for being surrounded and outflanked I'm in total agreement. I think it brings back a degree of realism to medieval warfare as competent generals did everything they could to manuever around enemies and to avoid being outflanked themselves. I just watched a show called Decisive Battles detailing the battle at Cannae where this was clearly the case. Hannibal manuevered his line so that the Romans couldn't resist the temptation to try and smash it with their sheer numbers but Hannibal flanked the Romans to their sides and their rear and decimated them. Flanking allowed an army of 20,000 to utterly destroy an army of over 50,000... and this was not like the Romans defeating neighboring outclassed Barbarians, the Carthaginians and the Romans had professional fighting men and organized armies.
Pulling moves like this made MTW the game that it was because you could use your ingenuity, guile and daring to defeat greater and more powerful armies.
Come on people, take that discussion some place else will ya.

I thought it was funny to see the target kick on the door and break the assassin's nose. I chuckled hartily. I think those movies were very well done. The spy one also made me laff.

I'm glad to see the videos. I simply hope there is enough variety to keep it interesting. They will be great fun for the first, oh, half of your out-of-the-box campaign, but unless there is oodles of variety, the videos will be turned off after a week. Either way, they look nice and should be fun.

Yuuki, its most likely too late to suggest any stat parameters to the developers now. If they haven't changed the stat issues prior to this stage of development I doubt they will later on. I wouldn't be surprised if they leave them out....sadly.
