Over the past few months, I have been keeping an eye out on MTW2, however, I have not been avidly posting in any forum, or visiting any website.

This is infact, one of my first posts in many many months, possibly in one to two years!

I am indeed looking forward to it, but to pass the time, I am going to start a new Campaign as the Greeks in Vanilla RTW, and go on a conquering spree.

As well, I'll pass the time by playing me some Battlefield 2, but that is a entirely different genre of gameplay.

I just hope that I can scrouge up enough money to get the game on its first day!

Contacted EB Games in Launceton they said they would be getting the limited edition of M2tw and their release date had not changed. Just goes 2 show that Harvey Norman have their head up their @#$ as asual and dont know jack $#@@ about what is going on with pc game releases.

I'm almost at the 100 dollar mark. so I'm going to pre-order it this week. then, a day or two before I go get it, I'll order the 100 buck colelctions edition online, and pick it up at EB games (regular version), then when it comes in the mail (100 dollar one) I take the one I pre-order from the store,EB games back,get a full refund, and pay off the 100 dollar bill lol :-) :-)

Of course M2TW is worth buying, its a Total War game, I am a big fan of the series & spend many a hour playing them. In my opinion M2TW will be better than Medieval because you will be able to do all of the things you wished you were able to do in the first Medieval & the improved diplomacy will make the games diplomacy feel more realistic instead of the scripted, inpersonal feel that it had in Medieval & the graphics are a big improvement oover the old sprites in Medieval as well.

Well done CA the demo is good, the screenshots and game trailers are looking very good & I dont think fans of the Total War series will be dissapointed:2thumbsup:

It's quite sad, really. A few weeks ago I bought Company of Heroes - one of the best games I've played in a long time. Since the M2TW demo was released I haven't played it - it just doesn't seem to excite me any more. not that the M2TW demo is any good - personally I think it's rubbish - but I just know that the full game is gonna be awesome. I can't wait til I see the campaign map load for the first time and examine my settlements :bounce:

It can't be assured, but it is to be expected. Sega have said that all of the first prints of the game will be the Limited Edition, which includes a map, then later on they will start to print the "ordinary" edition, without a map. but don't confuse that with the Collector's Edition, which you'll have to specifically order and pay extra for.

Senta email to Chris Wright Product Manager of THQ Asia Pacific asking if he could clear up wether Austrlia gets the Limited Edition adn when is the release date for Austrlia. Here is his reply I got today.

The limited edition will be released in Australia but only certain retailers are stocking it.



We are putting out limited quantities and it will only be available if you pre-order it. You can pre-order it now from EB Games, Games Wizards and selected independent specialist retailers.



The SRP is $99.95, the same as the normal edition.



Harvey Norman are not selling the limited edition but will have a bonus Medieval II glass stein, which we are creating specially for them and which will be limited to Australia only.



The release date for Australia has not been pushed back to December. It will be November 23rd, one week after it releases in the UK.

I don't know, but my guess is probably not. GST type taxes usually only apply to in-country orders, not international ones, in order to encourage exports. I do know, for example, that when I order something from Britain to ship here, I don't have to pay their rotten VAT (thank goodness).

Being based in the US at the moment I for one will be aviod M2TW forums from the 10th until I get the game in my hands (well maybe a quick check to be sure the forum is not full of "OMG it suxs" threads). Add to that I will have planning to get Gears or War and CoD3 for the 360 and Neverwinter 2 for the PC so will not be short of things to too... :2thumbsup:

I think i have spoiled any surprizes in the game enough already without reading every possible detail...

Of course the fact that ordered the Strategy Guide may lead to a lot of spoiling on the 7th anyway... :book: :laugh4:

Yes, there is a limit. I know because I buy a fair bit of stuff from O/S and I've spoken to customs about what duties are payable. I thought it better to pay duties on the goods rather than have them confiscated altogether as "grey" imports.

As it turns out I needn't have worried as, according to the customs person I spoke to, one doesn't have to pay duty in Australia on items ordered from overseas so long as those items don't exceed a value of $1000.

Yeah, but as someone else has pointed out, in Australia the GST is not necessarily the only sales tax you pay on an item. Apparently they retained a lot of the former sales taxes when they brought the GST in. In fact now you hear people complain because they find themselves paying "a tax on a tax" for some items.

I've ordered books from Australia before (they were not released here in the US yet :P ) and I did not have to pay the 10% GST. Which was nice, since shipping was about thirty bucks.

On a related note, here in the Great Satan sales tax depends on what you buy and where you are. In my home state, its only 5.5%, and only for non-comsumables. So, everything but food.

Ohh, and I should mention that I am waiting for reviews. Until that time, MTW for me.

It may not be the highest at 17.5% here in the UK but overall we pay over 40% taxes and that's the highest anywhere in Europe at least. By some schools of thought when a country gets over 40% tax a revolution of some sort will occur, not necessarily a radical one, but things need to change. I think we should call this the "most horrendous tax in the world" thread.

I live in Montana, US, 0% sales tax on all but petrol. Then again, I get it at the expense of paying thosands every year to doctors, so I'm not sure which is worse.

On the other end of the spectrum, a friend in Sweden had to pay 108% tax on his annual salary three years ago. 100% in Sweden I can see, but the extra 8% is a bit much.

All to no avail: It just won't make time fly. I'm studying, but that makes time go even slower. *sigh* And my mates just won't hear anything that even remotely refers to the medieval period.

I think this might be right. Usually U.S. games ship Tues, in stores Wed, and Euro games Ship Thurs, and in stores on a Fri (at least that's my understanding.)

Actually, the overall tax rate in the UK is higher under "New Labour" (i.e. old socialism with a grin) than anywhere else in Europe. It's just that our government hides it in stealth taxes and makes it look like we pay les by not upping income tax. It's just every other tax has increased and lots of new ones been introduced without anyone realising it. Back in the Feudal days, plebs had to work for 4 months of the year for their lord, then the rest was their own. In England now, we work into late July for the government. :thumbsdown:

Maybe. But my mate preorders off game loads and often gets them a day or two early. I also recall and Orgah in another thread saying GAME sent his Rome 1 day before release.

Also I play alot of Dawn of War, the latest expansion of which was released on Friday. I didn't preorder off game, but I know GAME, Amazon and Gameplay customers all got their games a day early (depending on when the ordered them and supply etc).

Though tbh I'm not too bothered, as long as its here on friday.

Thats because if you order it now it should come by Friday. It'd be kinda stupid for them to only be allowed to start taking orders on Friday.

Hmmm, I don't know if they have done that for me as its my Mum that pays via credit card and so I have no way of knowing : ( lol but the way I understand Play to be is that it goes from processing to packing and then back to processing and then posted, but orders never are posted on the same day you order, not to my knowledge anyway, and so orders usually get posted around the same time of the day the day after you ordered it.........does that make sense? I hope so lol : )

I hope mine is coming I just can't bear this as I panic and thought that they would email me to say my Mum's account is whatever, and that would be nonsense as its fine..........she is not the sort of person to run out of money, thank heavens! lol

Yes i'm sure EU people will be going crazy just keep in mind people that american still have 5-6 days to wait, so feel lucky and count your blessing. I assume most of you will be playing the total war 2 demo tonite. However for those of you looking for something else medieval, I suggest going to fileplanet.com and downloading the demo of the guild 2, while the whole game may be crap, the demo isn't bad and has sort of a medieval feel to it.

Well its 9th November and My birthday so, as a present, I get to go down to my local 24-7 supermarket to get M2:TW at midnight, which is 2 hours and 3 minutes away.

Off Topic: Will M2:TW break any records in its sales? I am asking this of the experienced gamers who might know how well M2:TW will do.
