I was trying to play the M2TW demo and it said that I need shader 1.1, is this software I can download or in hardware that I have to buy.

You're probably going to need a new videocard, one which does support Shader 1 and higher.

Which v.card do you currently have ?

i have a laptop so it dosent look like ill be getting M2TW any time soon
i have an acer Travelmate 4650 im not sure what card i got

You probably have some horrible onboard chip. So yes, short of getting a new machine, no fancy games for you!

That's your problem. The bane of laptop gamers. I'm surprised HL2 works tbh.

Well it looks like I do have it and the campaign works fine , in battle mode if there are two full stacks going at each other then it wont actually load but a small army of 3 or 4 going at each other is fine with a bit of lag.
