View Full Version : Opinion - We should all relax on CA and just enjoy the game.
As I am trying for the Brownie Badge of Suckupness, I would like to state that this game must of been playtested in a lab by lots of people before releases. Sure, it was released with bugs but all those little gripes we have about lack of Naval battles or AI doing mass attacks for no reason among other things I can't remember because its morning and I haven't slept yet must have been tried out numerous times and CA realized that the game was simply better without it. Sure, I always thought it was funny that if my horse dies from an arrow, I die too but how would you restack or move around your horse archers if 5 of them had no horse because the horse died during the last battle? Even knowing this has been discussed, how much fun really would it be to see just one ship firing arrows at another ship and seeing a health bar for the ships to monitor damage? Also, people get annoyed about the Papacy always being there but would the game really be fun if the papacy died out in round 20 and you have another 300 rounds to go? How could you fulfill the crusade missions or even get them to begin with? Who will stop the HRE from steamrolling Denmark? Even the troop roster was done well, if every country had different troops how could you monitor the strenghts and weaknesses vs other units or factions. If every faction had different rosters, what would prevent France from just dominating England EVERY Single Campaign.
I guess my point is, I bet almost all of our ideas were actually thought up just as well by CA and turned down when implemented in an early Beta version of M2TW. We just don't see WHY they were turned down and for that we still like the ideas.
Wow, after reading that, my grammar is WAY off and I need to go to bed. I hope to read what everyone writes after this.

I have no problem with what Medieval 2 is at all. I love it. My only problem is that it's a bit crippled. I still love it though and have played it nearly 200 hours now.

Because God knows that without consumer pressure, businesses are quick to respond to problems in their product.
If we DIDNT be pissy, we'd be only hurting them and ourselves because when the next game comes out, we'd have no incentive to buy it since we were disappointed with this one and they didn't change the situation.

Because I want a game where every Highlander is modeled after Mel Gibson, and screams "You can take my life but you can never take my FREEDOOOM!!" in a fake scottish accent as they crash into melee
I want a game that has such a feature that let's me pay ransom for my camp followers alongside my captured troops after lost battles
I want an option to impale prisoners so I can get "the impaler" suffix after my name.
I want a feature during siege that allows me to drop food onto people climbing ladders and shoot living livestock at the besiegers just to discourage them, well dropping something onto the peeps climbing the ladders would be nice, boiling water in the gatehouse would be nice....and sometimes a iron porticullis would be super nice
As I am playing a medieval ruler in this game I think the developers should have shipped the collectors edition whith a body slave just to help my immersion into the game....at the very least a manservant to fetch snacks and soft drinks while I am playing.
And THEY DID IT AGAIN!!! Where is Iceland?!? You can get the Americas, middle east and Africa but there is no Iceland. Didn't they know that there was much important stuff happening in Iceland in those days, like eh ehm eh vikings killing each other and sprouting manly poetry about it..
This game is broken

They were founding one of the first post-classical instances of large-scale democracy. I'd say that's fairly important.

Iceland? What about Greenland? And why is the discovery of America not an option to the Scandinavians long before this spanish dude claim to be the "discoverer" of the "new world".
Wonder how the locals felt when being told they had been "discovered"?
Oh well, I really really like the game.

Rejecting ideas is one thing. Missing bugs is another.
I love the game, but I wish CA would fix the game before expecting me to shell out on their next installment. That has really changed my opinion of them.
I was happy to give them time to fix the bugs, and they have had that time. But when they announce another add-on and expect me to pay for it without fixing the bugs in the game I have already paid for... it just shows how little they care about their customers. They have been spending their resources designing another game instead of using those resources to satisfy customers who have paid them already. I, for one, will not be buying another TW game until it hits the bargain bin.
If you bought a Ford with serious mechanical failings, you would not buy another unless Ford had a factory recall to sort the problems. And Ford would do that because they know they would lose your custom and next time you'd buy a Vauxhall instead. I just wish there was some competition to make CA/Sega treat customers with the same respect.
You should be ashamed of yourselves CA. :furious3:
Okay, although I think I am winning the arguement about the leaked 1.2 patch that people are debating on in a different thread, I concede here. I guess by complaining CA (among other companies) will fix the things that we talk about. Your right, if we all just played single player and nobody came to this message board, CA might think the game was a flop and move on to the next project. But by all the post, it proves that the game is active and needed to be fixed more.
You win, I concede.
