that could bring a very interesting aproach to gameplay if it could work. plus it would make the combinations of armies increase and create for a much much more tatical approach for battles, in the ways of matching units and picking apart weak spots in lines...

i cannot think of a way to make this happen at the moment, however maby alpaca could ask his friends at CA for help on this ??? bitte bitte

Sincerely increasing armor with experience wouldn't make any sense, new armours won't grow out of nothing just because you fought a lot, you need an armourer able to build them and money needeed to buy them.

To add to the above ALREADY experience influences combat stats (as it should logically be):
experience 1: no effect
experience 2-3: +1 attack, +1 defence
experience 4-6: +2 attack, +2 defence
experience 7+: +3 attack, +3 defence

All in all the system works well, the more your troop are experienced, the harder they are to kill because of the higher defence and the more they are lethal against enemies (alas they fight better because they know how to do it not because they magically acquired new armours and weapons).

well da, of coarse you would have to have the level of armour to supply heavier armor, but the more expierence the troops have then they are like rewarded the better armor. It would be like you build a spearmiltia, the dudes have no armor no training. just cuz you build a leather tanner, the king or govner of that city isnt gonna GIVE every soldier the best armor. when infact it realy wasnt unitl the renessance period or even the industrial period when armies were paid and supplied with armor/weapons

most medievel armies were paid a megar salary to fight given food and simple kits to start, but good armor was BOUGHT by the soldiers. Prime example is the greek armies of old. the new recruits had megar crap and were at the front, the silver rank soldiers (expierence troops) got helmets, better shield and were at the back of the phalanx......

all en all its a good idea. it would be an even better idea if you built the basic unit then had to upgrade them with different armor levels at increasing prices. or if the troops gain expierence and bought themselves new armor, then they should cost more to maintain as this also happen. the longer u server (expierence) the more you were paid.

Just upgrade with improved armours your more experienced troops using the armourer buildings, I still fail to see the utility of what you asked.

What could be interesting is a function to change a unit into a unit of another type, but this is a completely different matter that armour/experience stuff like when you're able to change the general bodyguards to their late model.

im just saying that just by building a higher level armorer all ur new units produced wouldnt be equiped with the new armor. by building the starter unit and having the choice to spend more money on their armor upgrade would be cool but probally would make for to much micro management. I think the whole point of the original question was to allow the expierence of the troop dictate their amror level. since the war hardened or vetran troop would get paid more they could buy the better armor if it was available.

eg. Plate armor for knights would be very very expensive and thus "starting" knights (dismounted_feudal_knights) could afford heavy mail. after they are rewarded with more pay for their services renderd, they could then afford their paritail plate (if it was available). remember, almost all kings did not provide their knights with the latest armor.

Looting dead enemy soldier bodies was for the most cases the only way how poor equipped soldiers could gain some armor which they couldn't afford. The references to these events can be found in the medieval chronicles.

Victorious army could be awarded such way. Hussites are good example, because most of them came from peasants.

Of course the question is - is it possible to implement such feature in game. Likely not.

that would be an awsome mod. I wished that once you killed the seige crew you could man thier equipment and use it against them, and keep it after the battle. It would be historicaly accurate as well. if you think about it, the vikings, dans, turks, mongols, poles, moors nearly everyone would take anything usefull of the dead.I still wanna see rearming your missile troops after each battle, and if you dont ur S.O.L
i mean, an army lays seige, you fight. all ur archers fire all their arrows, you win and the enimy attacks right after : your archers arnt going to be fully rearmed just like that. but again this is getting into to much micro management.
