No worries, bro.
I'm glad you're still playing along. :2thumbsup:
Your term was very successful, yes. The Koinon is wealthier and more powerful than ever before.

Ya know guys....I have this strange feeling 1.0 is coming out very soon...
We will have to decide if we'll continue with this game in v.0.82, or if we'll start a new succession game in 1.0.
While it's a little disheartening to think about leaving this thing in the past before it every really got going, I think we've learned a lot on what things work well, and those which may be a little too complicated.
For now, we'll continue playing as normal.
As soon as 1.0 comes out, I'll likely start a poll.
A 1.0 Qarthadastim Succession game would probably be a lot of fun...
Just thought I would run that by you guys, so you can begin to think about it a little.

*Contemplates trying to organize two succession games (which would require two completely different builds of EB, mind you), write an aar, work, take care of 2 year old, prepare for newborn in 3 weeks, etc. etc. etc....*
I am not superman friend.:laugh4: :sweatdrop:
I think a succession game with 1.0 will likely be the way to go....I hate to say it, but how can we pass up all of those great new features?
Who knows, it might not be out for a few weeks, but I've already said this succession game was more of a 'logistical experiment', if you will.
We'll go with what the majority of players would like to do, but I'm leaning towards starting a new one in 1.0.
:laugh4: :laugh4: Ok
It was from a bachelor view
I am still around always =P

I think I'll be in, but it depends on whether all these new gimmicks and scripts murder my pc, which already has problems. Well, the only real problems occur when I play battles with huge setting, but large just seems so... small:laugh4: But I think this old baby can handle this!

Well, I'm going to start the term (1.0 coming soon and all, when it's out, we'll address what to do next).
Still waiting for Glenn and Nikolaus to sign in....but we'll move along for now, and if something requires one of their characters to do something in game, they'll be given 48 hours to complete the battle, and if they don't respond they'll forfeit their character and move to the end of the line.
Well....the autumn of 266 BC beckons, so I'm off. My term might be fairly uneventful, but we'll see...

Probably won't be as uneventful as mine was, epsecially considering mine was such a lul between two warmongering ones (slightly kiddding on that). Then again,I've always been a culture and economic kind of guy, which is why I never win Civilization on multiplayer.
Anyways,I say we deal with 1.0 whenever it comes out.
Also, for the next week I'll be in Ohio and will be unable to participate in any battles. However,I can still come to council and debate.

Bolon of Rhodios has-a nooo experience of discussing in the forum!
I am waiting until my father should give to me his young horse, Papriakos, and I as soon as I am old enough, I will go to be part of his cavalry!
(I will promise from now on to return here at least every two days to the forum, even if only to check up on this - I recommend starting afresh with the new version, as this thread has become jumbled and confusing.
But until then, carry on, lest the life of Bolon should be cut short at too early an age!)

Agreed....the next game will be a little more strict....I fully intend on having an incharacter thread, and an out-of-character thread....This one started out this way....but, it just was sort of lost in mix.
What I wouldn't give for mod powers in this forum....maybe I'll ask MAA to help us keep our next game a little more tidy .i.e out of character responses in the in character thread will be moved, etc, etc, etc. :2thumbsup:
try to have participants show their in game character's name in their signature
it'll make things far more easier for mods
and it puts you in the right mood for role play
Euginios Rhodios rises carefully from his seat and looks at every councilor in turn.
"Our oracles speak of a mysterious force that may forever alter our world as if the Titans will return and fight with our gods once more. But I say, we shall fight and reclaim Hellas until that day comes. And then, screw Hellas, I'm sailing to Kart-Hadast.... it got a port BIGGER than Rhodos... got a population BIGGER than Rhodos... and got problems BIGGER than Rhodos... and got a need for amazing generals who'll be paid BIGGER than in Rhodos...
Who's with me! Kionon Hellenon now, and when the world is renewed in version 1, Safot Softim biQarthadast...."

LOL!
Screw Hellas? Never, friend. :2thumbsup:
All joking aside, I was thinking Safot Softim biQarthadast as well. We might even be able to attract a few new Carthie fans for shits and giggles.
On a completely different note, Makedonia is now at war with Pontos, so I'm sending an ambassador to work out a ceasefire/alliance.
Is this course of action acceptable to the council?
*wonders if he was the only one who didn't know we were at war with Pontos*
I've also began construction of a granary in Chalkis, bolstered our spy/diplomat network considerably, and am retraining our field army piece-meal. The Hoplitai will have to wait until our MIC in Athenai is complete before they can be retrained.
I'm also considering upgrading farms in Rhodos to very productive farming.
I'll wait a little while for anyone to chime in with any suggestions and/or concerns, then I'll finish my term and write a battle report of sorts so you guys can have a look-see at what's going on....
I haven't heard from Nikolaus in some time, but if he hasn't had a term yet, he's up after me. If he has had a term, or just doesn't come back, Sassem gets to go next.
On a side note, I can't wait for Areus to kick the bucket so I can have a strapping young lad and actually play a battle. :laugh4:
Oh, for a second there I thought u were talking about my character :inquisitive:

We were at war with Pontus?Anyways, everything you said for the rest of your term looks fine to me.

Heh, it's funny that I said that. I died.
As soon as I pressed end turn for the last time to lead into autumn of 264....I recieved a message that Areus was dead. A fitting end to quite an old fart, who never really did poop for the Koinon except sit on his arse in sparte and count the flowers in the meadows. :laugh4:
Anyways, I've finished my term....I'l probably do a detailed write up tomorrow. I'm going to go continue my Sabyn campaign. It's good, very good.
On an unrelated topic, what would people think about a Romani 1.0 succession game? I know, I know, 'Will of the Senate', but, it might be kind of cool to try and rebuild the roman empire (and the new Roman Provincia Retinues look very interesting for roleplaying purposes).
I don't know, maybe I'll make a poll with Romani and Qarthadast, but I assume that most of the players here will continue, and this is why I ask you here and now.
EDIT: For those of you who have never seen a Succession game (also known as PBeM), take a look at the King of the Romans PBeM in the Throne Room (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=38).
A useful link follows:
A History of the Holy Roman Empire from 1080 to the Present (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=82780)
You'll notice that they're in-character thread remains 'in-character', and they look like they've had a lot of fun (and more than a few tense moments as well). You can tell that people really get into it....I was hoping for something a little more like this for our 1.0 game. It will be a little less informal, and hopefully some good political scandals/in-fighting will take place. :beam:
One last thing to note in this extremely long winded post....The reason this game isn't more organized is completely my fault. If I'm going to try and run one of these things, I really will need to do a better job organizing.
That being said, there may be times that I come across as a dick in the next PBeM, simply because I plan on having rules and enforcing them. It's the only hope we'll have of keeping things going on the straight n' narrow.
Just remember your experiences with me here, and you'll understand why (although I don't foresee any problems with the players who are carrying on, just new players who might not be familiar with the often unorganized craziness that we've dealt with at times in this game).
Whoo. I'm done rambling now.
Ok, I'm going to bed. :Zzzz:
See ya'll tomorrow.

*contemplates trying to get a seleukid succession game organized*
Yikes. We would have way too many family members from the get go, but it's an idea that is worthy of some merit, I suppose.
It would be interesting, to say the least.
i think a AS campaign might be fun as a succession game as we could start out with regional satraps over local leaders! have some good political josseling! i dont know it could be interesting, trying to cater to all the different needs of the different regional satraps,
Bootsiuv
10-09-2007, 23:24
It certainly is an idea worth considering....Perhaps AS will have to be added to the poll. :charge:

No one here is dedicated enough to completely organise the comparatively small political and military tasks of the Koinon Hellenon, and therefore we cannot expect to encompass within this forum the necessary information that will be processed in a Seleukid campaign.
If we cannot do this, how can we expect to enjoy it?
We need a small faction to begin with, one that fits not entirely our preference, but our number, so that each of us can quickly within the day or two, summarise our turn in leadership.
This will be most enjoyable, as then we can be constant with the demands of writing, and constant with the pleasure of role-play.
And as our empire grows, so will our repertoire of players, and the chores of updating will be balanced.
Do not use a poll, for if this is our method of decision, then there will be some against the conclusion, and therefore some will be displeased.
If, as it is apparent, the current game has met it's extinction, then let us use this discussion in order to deliberate upon and decide our future nation.
When all of us agree, (And let no others join our cause in the meantime to make this easier), then we can all be content when we begin.
There are no governments in the game that do not allow for our roleplay, and so we have a great choice.
So we should not be in haste to choose, but ensure that our country will be both efficient, easily-governed, and we should surround ourselves with players that will consent to daily updates and participation.
If we are logical within this dilemma, and then within our game, then we will enjoy it.
For it is a law of natural science, that for something to react with intelligence, it must be treated with intelligence.
As for my own suggestion on the nation we will lead, I do not think myself apt to plead, for I do not have an experience of all factions.
But, there is one criteria vital for our purpose, that the initial nobility must include all of us, that we are all in existence from the beginning.
Even if children.
The challenge, so long it is not an overwhelming of information to process to our council, I do not think important, as we have enough minds here to deliberate and no doubt discover a means of surpassing any problem.
So we should not rush this, as we have until the release of version 1.0, and even if we have concluded before then, I propose we do not begin a game, yet that we do study the situation of our nation from all sides, and discuss our plans for it's use.

Well said Glenn.
I agree.

10-10-2007, 20:54
Now that I have a second longer to elaborate a little more on Glenn's post....I would just like to point out that I agree with every point you made save one.
I will not close this or any future succession game from the community. New players are welcome at all times. If these new players do not agree with our policies or choice of nation, then they are welcome to move along.
As to everything else you said, you are quite right, and I agree wholeheartedly. I think a certain level of seriousness will be required for full on enjoyment.
Everyone will know the rules, and as long as they abide by them, everything should move smoothly. This is my fault, as I was rather indecisive in the beginning regarding rules, due to the fact that I wasn't even certain I would be able to attract any players whatsoever, and strict rules and timetables may have drove the few who were interested away.
Now that I know there is a general interest in EB succession games, I think we can move forward, and make our next game more strict, and therefore, more enjoyable to all involved.
I also noticed, upon coming to power, that we had 2 spies and 1 diplomat. No trade rights with anyone, save our allies. :inquisitive:
I increased this number to 10 spies and 4 diplomats and sent them to all corners of the earth. By the end of my term I had spies in Italy, Persia, Arabia, Germania, Gaul, Makedonia, and Thrace to the north. Diplomats were sent to Italy, Gaul, and Asia, to acquire trade rights, while one was stationed in Demetrias to serve as ambassador (high influence diplomats give terms more favorable, therefore having an ambassador (+4 influence) can be helpful to have on the front lines.
I bet you guys had no idea that Epeiros, not Makedonia, is the real threat to KH sovereignty. They're a monster, and we had no clue we were even at war with Pontos.
These things are unnacceptable to anyone who wants to win in this game.
These are just a few things I noticed, and wanted to mention.
Well, we could still carry on with this, or we can begin discussions concerning our next empire, and strategies involved therein. I'll post the savegame and a brief report later this evening, and if Sassem feels the desire to continue, by all means, go for it. I wouldn't worry too much about it though, as this game is reaching it's final days.
Thanks for your time

I have to go buy dinner right now, but I'll post the savegame as soon as I return, and a general overview, and then Sassem, you can carry on from their.
I do have some rather interesting events to inform the council about, so stay tuned in the next few hours.
