We all know, more or less, what the Romans yelled before they began to slaughter all the folks standing in front of them, and thanks to some of the threads in EB, we know that their battlecries weren't yelled in english or pseudo-latin, despite what hollywood and RTW vanilla might have you think :laugh4:

What I'm wondering, though, is do we know what Punic battlecries were? I mean, surely Hannibal's troops would have yelled something no doubt inspiring (at least to themselves) before getting to work at Cannae, or even at Zama. I imagine there must be some info on this on the web, but so far my googling hasn't turned up much of anything, so does anyone here on this forum have any idea about what authentic Punic war-cries would have been?

BTW I know this thread isn't mindless trolling regarding historical facts, whining about bugs in the mod, debating the pros and cons of spears and swords, or saying my-Romans-aren't-as-tough-as-they-used-to-be-boo-hoo. What can I say? I'm just a non-conformist that way :laugh4:

There'd be a hell of a lot of variety, I'd say. What with Gauls, Iberians, Lybians, Carthaginians, Numidians, Italians..

i think the carthaginian troops need something, because at the moment they dont even make any noise when they are celebrating. its kind of anti-climatic when you crush the enemy after a big battle and all you can hear is the wind blowing through the air.

its only my iberian/celtic men who are actually vocal on the battlefield, besides the pre-battle "stinking rats!" the carthaginian troops shout.
