Hi, new to the EB forum and the .org after lurking some time, I'm actually into my first EB 1.0 campaign (with Bactria) after 10/12 years with the Ptolemaioi with the 0.81, so I'm still noob and in need of some help.

First question is about unrest. In vanilla RTW was simple: apart a few ancillaries/traits, the only 2 ways a city can suffer from unrest were a recent conquest (and it decreases fast) and an enemy spy.
In EB I know that there is a big emphasis on the characters and many traits and ancillares can increase or decrease unrest, but not only the cities that I conquered have a stable 80% unrest that seems it can't go away, but also the 3 cities I control from the start have a 30/40% unrest. So I don't really know if I am overrun of seleukid spies or I miss something.

But in addition to the "big" question I have other ones: :book:
1 building a type 1 government in conquered cities where there is an already builded level 3 regional MIC is considered an exploit?
2 this one for sure was asked a lot of times, but the general's bodyguards in my campaign have been upgraded very early (about 245 bc), what's the trigger for the bodyguards change? (I really miss out those fast moving bactrian bodyguards!)

The bodyguards are upgraded through the vanilla marian reforms, when a city in Italy reaches the "huge level", by having at least 24000 people living there.

EDIT: As for the unrest, I just always keep sure I have a militia garrison in the city with low or normal tax rates...

I think (but don't [quote] me on this) that many cities have been given "inherent unrest" to represent their historical "uppitiness" during the period. This may, or may not, be script-tied into which faction you're playing, but I'm fairly certain that it is there one way or the other.

Cheers.

Yeah kind of. Ideally, you're supposed to destroy MICs when you change to a government that can't build that MIC level.

May be not if someone else had build the regional MIC and you can use it too. I would consider it as some local mercenary force that the former owner had built and that I now incooperate into my army.

well I was thinking that I can build the type 1 gov and then recruit only the units that I could with a lev 2 regional MIC, few days ago I was in the same situation (conquered seleukid city with lv 3 regional MIC) and I built a type 2 gov, but this city (Alexandreia-Ariana) is more strategically relevant or at least I think it is, so the +1 exp bonus is really nice for a future big recruitment area
