Could anyone recommend a good utility for this?
Have used one in the past [the name of which just escapes me] but
the results, particularly when converting to .wmv, were relatively poor
in terms of picture quality.
Thanks.
Canopus Procoder (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Canopus_ProCoder) and Nero Recode (http://www.videohelp.com/tools?toolsearch=nero+recode&Submit=Search) spring to mind. Not sure if they support the .flv format, though. I'd do the research, but it's late, and this should get you started.
Good luck!
-edit-
I see there's a free utility (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/FLV_Extract) for getting from FLV to AVI, which gets you more than halfway there.

Well, after downloading some codecs and VirtualDubMod to join picture
and sound, [available through the same site as FLVExtract] had some
surprisingly good results - certainly better than the freeware used before.
Thanks again.
