I love how EB makes me sad when I try to give the original RTW a second try  Can't play RTW without EB installed, they put so much work in this masterpiece so a :balloon2: to everybody involved Who's idea was this mod originally anyways? I mean, who started it all?

I love how much EB pwns the vanilla RTW, literally with 10x more content in units, historical accuracy, gameplay, scripting, cities/provinces, etc. RTW should really hire the EB team.

We love it because there spawn in our region full stacks of Seleukid armys...out of mercenearys we can't hire...
we love the historical unit and the depth of the game...but things like this are an inside out EDIT
are there any cheats to generate money??? that just aint funny anymore...we play the game intensily but to handle that without cheat requires hardstyle nerdiness and we need to stop working...we feel like someone EDIT on our faces

Press ` and type add_money (type amount here) gives you money.Or was it add_gold?Nevermind.I love EB because playing it is like reading a history book.
Translation of Rycalawre's offensive language, for which I think he should be banned:
There are too many mercenaries, which I am too poor to recruit. The tight economy makes me sad. I want to cheat, how?

Because it offers much more of a challenge than vanilla RTW. That and the level of historical accuracy. Kudos to the EB team for the research they put into each and every faction.

Why we love EB?. :inquisitive: A simple answer, because it is the greatest of the greatest mod ever produced, by so much a dedicated team of developers, who so much have historical accurate settings at their hearts. Its simply the Best.
Cheers.
Just start a RTW game, once you have played EB for while. I did so last week because I couldn't really rember that game anymore. What a difference! RTW is like a stoneage version of EB from the eraly 90s.
Factions? - 4 Romans, the rest was not so important in this time frame.
Units? - The Barbarians have three, the eastern factions two, the Egyptians several hundred out of the grave, the Romans some and the rest is represented by three phalanx units. And the good news: they get Legions as well. And there are of course dogs, chanting druids, gladiators and the like typical Ancient units.
Regional units? - WTF?
Balance? - Well, as a rule of thumb, family members are the equivavalent to the modern nuke.
Economy? - You must not care about.
I love EB because every faction is given depth, diversity, and believability. Unlike in RTW which (although in my opinion still a great game, when all's said and done) was basically a case of 'We're the mighty and invincible Romans, and the rest of the world is there to be conquered!'.
Essentially, EB comes closer than any game in creating a living, breathing version of the world of 272 onwards BC, IMO.
It makes history rich, full, and colourful!
...and the less said about RTW's 'Mummy Returns' egyptians, the better.
P.S
Rycalawre's posts, being as blatantly badly written and offensive (wether intentional or not) make me think that he could be a troll, and we all know what should happen to trolls. Just MHO

I love the roleplaying aspect of the character traits. there's nothing i like more than the huge amounts of traits and the ability to change the stats due to your own actions (like fighting and winning battles will remove the doubtful courage trait).

I love EB becouse it is the best mod ever.:balloon2:
I love about EB that when I start a campaign with a faction I haven't played before I spend half the time reading the building and unit descriptions. :p

I love the way it looks espcially the the battles.
As a wargamer of 30 years experiance, I weep at the thousands of hours spent painting figures ( Competition winning quality!). Now it takes 30 seconds loading and I have a field full of beatiful legions etc. that just look the business.

I think that first its the traits, then its the economic/government system, followed by the units, followed by..., followed by...
We build bridges out of them ?
Actually I was thinking of trapping them BENATH bridges, perhpas using iron cages, so that their snarling can be enjoyed by passers-by from a relatively safe distance.

I'd rather have them suffer gruesome and painful deaths...
:mean:
EDIT: One reason I love EB is because of Regional recruitment. As an example, I'm able to play a very fun Arverni campaign in Egypt, with my capital at Alexandreia. I got to admit, something I started just for a few laughs evolved into a serious campaign.

I love EB because it's beautiful and also because there are no trolls in it. Trolls are ugly.
I like slow expansion (I thought I won't like it when I heard about it). Thanks to long construction times I don't have to micromanage lots of my settlements each turn deciding what I want to build next.
Also battle AI. Honestly I can't say it's genius but it surprises me more often than Darth or Sinuhet.
And very neat units.

... because there is actually a slight chance of losing
... because of the attention to historical details
... because better gameplay, introducing features such as "rationing" etc., turning the simplistic base gameplay into a more complex, challenging and realistic gameplay
... because Thaatu is right

Because it makes me smile, and it makes me scream
EB is dope if it came in a box i would buy it.
Plus if there is something u dont like u can fix it or make it they way you see fit, but who are we kidding, the amount of time and effort put into it are just too amazing.

My girlfriend just hates it, with a passion. DESPISES IT!!! She calls it "that thing".

well....more diverse than vanilla, bigger map which feels great, harder battles and so many troops to grapple against.
*as for the trolls, we should do some lord of the rings shiz and shove em in a room full of elves and dwarves. sorted!
I know i've not been the best behaved forum user at times in the past... i'm permanently banned from the .com and that will never be lifted and i've been banned from the .org once before, but seriously Rycalawre needs to go man... Seems to me he might be a hardcore RTR fan who got bored of waiting for 7.0 and decided to play and insult EB to pass the time.
Anyway, i love the mod because... well, it's quite clearly the best Rome-era game (mod) that exists. Rome is my favourite period in history, from the beginning to the fall of the western empire, and EB is the best gaming experience of that time period currently in existance. If another Roman-era game were to be released that was somehow better than EB (highly unlikely) then i'd still play EB for a year or two more before buying the next one just out of respect for the guys that made it because it's just that damn good.

just for it imitates the historical reality in most extension.
Where are your manners Dayve? Enjoy the diversity. Remember, you can't have a nuthouse without nuts. Please, don't quote me on that.

Anyway, this nutter still recognises the opportunity for a party when he see one: congratulations Thaatu! With the exception of a brief period of infidelity, you've managed to live for over a year with an avatar who's died of old age or battle at least dozens of times ever since 272 BC in 0.8x..
It's quite a feat... :balloon3:

To all my ignorant fans, in game Pyrrhus had a different picture in 0.74, but in 0.8 the picture was switched to mine. It was reportedly a direct tribute to me by the EB team. The pic was switched to some other afterwards, which was reportedly meant as a direct kick to the balls. I have to say, Pyrrhus and I have a lot in common. If given the chance, I'm certain I too could be hit on the head with a falling roof tile.

in school during class, i always have this forum open on my laptop, so my friends always say aloud, "are you on the RTW forum again?!"

I like EB because of great lines like this on the forum. Oh yeah, the mod is pretty good too!:laugh4:
Personally, I like the depth and level of detail the best.
It looks fantastic on the screen :beam:

Because other mods have weird scenario set ups and units, like a Pyrrhus fighting for the greek cities, or thureophoroi as a skirmisher unit.

I enjoy other mods, and this on. They all just provide a different expierience. EB requires a lot of time, but takes a ton of strategy and thinking ahead. Some mods, like Roma Surrectum are fun too, providing a faster geme play and focusing a great deal on battles and overall fun factor.

Because all though there are a few very good mods covering this "era"....it is my opinion that what makes EB stand above all others is their portrayal of all the in game factions, Roman and Non-Roman alike, to include all unit art work and actual models. For me the attention to detail in this area is currently unrivaled. Nevermind campaign map, traits, reforms, etc..etc...For me, there is almost too many things to just be able to name a few....

Determination to learn it & grinding/boning the vocabulary might be at good start. A knack for languages always helps, but only few have it.

That's quite a strange way to clean one's nuts. I use sauna to clean mine. Which reminds me...
Sadly, throwing this particular nut off a bridge is unfeasible both as I don't know who he is, and it's illegal. I think I prefer just reporting his post if he keeps at his littering.

EB 1.0 seems one of the best mods in any game I've tried. There are room for improvement for sure, but this comes from person who solely play the game as Romans and see the other factions just as potential enemies and provinces to be conquered...
(Well I'm gonna try campaigns with some Celtic and Greek factions in the future, mainly due to their voicepacks.)
Things I've liked most so far:
1) Great unit variety with authentic looks and region based recuitment restrictions.
2) Faction/culture specific battle-voicepacks. Absolutely great(even must) for immersion.
3) New government system. Deciding which kind of government the conquered province will have makes the campaign much more interesting. The automatic recruitment of a regional(and non-moving) client ruler with IV-allied state type is a brilliant idea.
4) Year reports. Helps keeping the historical feeling during the campaign.
5) No unfilled unit/building descriptions found so far. Usually makes an interesting reading, and again, helps keeping the historical feeling. Region specific "wonder buildings" with surprisingly good pics and descriptions are especially cool.(I don't mean the actual wonders, but those smaller cultural sites found in many towns/provinces.)
So even us "horribly biased Western/Roman supremacists" can love EB. :)

EB is like reading a book, one of the best book and in the same time writing a book of your own . This mod offers a piece of knowledge from a vast pile of secrets, events and adventure that ocured in a world that is the foundation of our "modern" world. It makes you more interested in your history , the wish to find who are you , who are your ancestors , theyr way of life. It can help someone establishing his identity so enchanting him\her to forge a better destiny a better world. Maybe is a dream .
Anyway I love the map , big and many settlements, the trait and ancillaries system is best (I renounce playing RTW vanila becouse of CA system ), the AI is smarter , what can I say there are so many things. It can be better and better.
Respect.
