View Full Version : Disbanding of units and city population
In MTW, I remember that recruiting of units reduced population (as per unit size) and disbanding added the unit to the population... I used it as a way to transfer population from a large and unruly city to another that was growing too slowly (by training mobs and mobs of Peasants and transferring them).
It seems this no longer works in M2TW. Is this correct?
So, how do we increase population growth faster? Especially for Castles?

Each point of Chivalry a general has adds something like .5% to population growth. One trick is to end a general on a crusade (preferably nearby) then bring him back to govern a castle you want to grow fast.
Build all the farm line buildings, set low taxes (in cities ofc) and use high chivalry governors.
High chivalry govenors can be trained in the cities by setting low taxes and building all the church line buildings. Alternatively by capturing and releasing enemies on a few occasion.

Farms are worth it now and squalor doens't kill like it used to in RTW. And taxes do provide a bigger chunk of income compared to RTW as well.

The fastest way for castles is to pick your biggest starting city, put your highest chivalry governor in it, and then convert it to a castle when it hits 9k citizens. No more waiting for population.

Also recruiting units doesn't decrease the population anymore :gring: I loved doing that in RTW, capture some 400 pop village and have it up to 2000 in a few turns as hordes of peasants descend upon it from all my overcrowded cities.

That was RTW. MTW had no population sizes.
