Here we go:
1. you have 10 turns from start to declare war on papal states and remain in war with them till end of game.
2.you have to exterminate population in every settlement you take.
3. you must build Huge cathedral in Jerusalem and Constantinople ( catholic factions ), Huge ortodox cathedral in Jerusalem and Rome ( ortodox factions ), and huge muslim Mosque(?) in Constantinople and Rome (muslim factions ).
4. No diplomatic relations with any faction from start of game
special rule number 4a for super intellectuals: obtain Mason guild headquarters till turn 500.

Sounds like a fairly easy challenge for Egypt. I mean seriously, don't they do that anyway?

In situation like this , use rule 4a.
That's easy enough; you can take out the papacy on turn 3 or 4 as milan (add another 10 turns to kill off the popes for good if you want to go that way), and from there the rest of the goals are just a matter of time ~:)
What i meant is you will be at war with all other factions from start, no relations mean no money, extermination mean no money from taking city and low tax income, you need money and time to take religion capitals and build churches there, and you will NEVER get mason guild headquarters.
well I know another rule to making it impoissible: don't recruit any units, build any buildings, move any troops or fight any battles. Also use the console to give alll other factions infinite money and about 30 full triple gold stacks of their best men.
Is it even possible to completely wipe out the Papal States? According to the manual, the Papal States can never be destroyed, should you take their capital, they'll just settle in another place in another faction's domain.
(Exterminating populace? What's wrong with that? I often do this when I see that big red frown on the city.)

Nothing wrong. This packet of rules is just a simple way to get a game challenge you somehow, without any mod or rebalance or house rules etc. Many complains about dumb AI brought me an idea: only way to find playing vs dumb AI challenging is to play dumb.

only way to find playing vs dumb AI challenging is to play dumb.
which is precisely why the dumb AI is so frustrating - because playing dumb is no fun!

Agreed, playing dumb is no fun at all.
I've been criticized even, for taking every advantage given to me by a weak AI and a loophole-laden game. I simply pushed for maximum efficiency and aimed for maximum number of provinces taken in a minimum time frame.
Popped up with a record of 108 provinces by turn 58.
Did blitz campaigns with Muslims and Orthodoxies.
Whipped Lands to Conquer's rear end.
Now, I'm limiting myself to 10 core provinces and I am liberating the map and turning it over to the rebels. After that, I'll try to do that in record time.
With no crusading, no assassinations, and several other rules too. No sacking, no exterminating, and no garrisons in provinces 11 and up. No priests and no churches recruited/built. On LTC very hard/very hard of course.
Why would you play with anything else? LTC VH/VH means Hurt Me Plenty. I want a challenge, not a limp wristed opponent.

And that does sound too dumb and blunt for my liking.

Well said Ferret, sounds about as much fun.

I have a challenge for you. No playing stupid required.
The challenge is very simple. I've heard many say it's easy, I haven't seen anyone accomplish the task.
Take all 108 provinces by turn 58.
No house rules. No cheat codes. No mods.
Post the proof. Join the elite. I'm getting lonely over here.
If you want a challenge, there it is. Pick your faction wisely.
Hint: It's been done with both France and England. If you even come close by turn 60, I'd like to see it. Don't forget Arguin, Dongola, and all the other worthless provinces. They count.

I remember one thing- in Shogun i thinked twice before i did something and thats why i got MTW, RTW and MTW2. Each time i had more and more dumbed game and less challenge. In MTW2 there was challenge before patch fixed shields and two-handed. So, the game must be broken to bring some challenge?
With any rules, for wargamers this game is too simple. Until you play MP.
And CA must understand it and do something to make SP interesting. What rules will we need in Empire TW? Not to build ships? Not to use gunpowder? Or capture whole world in 6 turns?
I playing now with 10 provinces rule and use other homecrafted rules, but i think, that is not a great idea, because i doubt there is something left from original game here, more like i using program to play MY game.
Why would you play with anything else? LTC VH/VH means Hurt Me Plenty. I want a challenge, not a limp wristed opponent.
I consider any mod cosmetic decoration for original game. I dont really need "hurt me plenty", i want to see something logical in what i do and not affraid to do it because i can win ! I want to get well deserved victory, not because of somebody weakness, but as result of my strength. I remember, in Shogun AI rushed to hill or woods to get this desired advantage before me. Thats what i expected from others TW games, but still getting better graphics and sounds instead.

I couldn't agree with you more zaher
however I'd urge you not to write off all mods as simply "cosmetic". Alright, I guess we think we know that the AI is largely hardcoded, but Darth and others have shown that some judicious tinkering can have positive results when it comes to improving the challenge by working with what we have....

Yeah, something like this, including " Dont buy next TW game" until they use Shogun engine.

Umm. These are house rules.
Since this thread expects us to perform *impossible* things, than here are some:
-Marry your daughter to the pope
-Build the largest cathedral within the first 10 turns
-Launch a crusade on South America

Yep, because what this franchise needs is to use seven year old technology:laugh4:
