I wasn't expecting much. I've played mtw and liked it but didn't get to involved in it, but when I played shogun I was pleasantly suprised. Even though the campaign doesn't have much to it I still felt somewhat involved. I think the movies definetely make up for a lot. I did have one question though. I read the dutch show up eventually and don't require you to build a christian church. Now I've had the portugese show up, but when do the dutch show up.

Very late, I think it's around 1580 or so, depending on where your ports are.

Hello Telys,

The authentic date is 1600, STW uses an earlier date. The 1580 Wasp mentioned sounds right.

In WE 1.02 it depends on the campaign you're playing. In the standard 1530 Sengoku Jidai campaign, the Dutch seem to show up in 1561 like clockwork (though not necessarily in your territory; as Wasp writes, it depends on where your ports are located). This is not the case for the other campaigns.

Between this thread, and the two "which is better" threads here and in the EH, I've got this sudden itch to play STW again...
