This is my miniscule contribution to the Shogun community. Starting terrorities for each clan are as historically accurate as possible on the Shogun map. Proof you don't need to distort history to get a balanced game:) During my playtesting each clan with the Imagawa took control of the East at least once. Uesugi dominated about 40-50% of time. Imagawa always starts off extremely strong but then overextends himself and is eliminated. Unsure about the West as I was having some problems getting Mori going early on. Without giving him the mine in Aki he does absolutely nothing. Could probably get around that by tweaking his building_choice.txt to favor mines.
Included is tweaked Owari map. I got tired of the AI trying to form an assualt column only to get trapped by the huts and just sit there like idiots. So I simply deleted the buildings and trees on the AI's side of the river and problem solved.
Play it with the stats of your choice. Just my personal opinion but using the building+unit choice.txt's and invasion.txt's from Dr. Miller's Amagi campaigns seem to give a better game.
A big thanks to Hecose for his editor. Thanks also to everyone else who helped discover how to modify the game. And of course thanks to KOEI for giving me my first taste of Sengoku era wargaming.
This is for 1.6 - note that it changes the mechanism by which you choose a faction. If you want to play as an emergent faction then you must start the game as the slave faction and click on specific cities to bring up the correct advisor. Full details in the readme.
Update 13/12/05 - Version 1 Complete now uploaded including professorspatula's excellent maps and new leader pic's
What does it do? This mod allows you to play as all of the factions within BI as they appear or emerge within the vanilla game.
What version is this for?
It is for the vanilla Barbarian Invasion.
How big is it?
Approx. 3.9 meg
How does it work?
For all factions which are present at the start of the game just select them as usual from the campaign menu.
The emergent factions are marked as 'Not Playable at Start' on the Faction Selection Screen. To play as one of these factions, you must select one of the other factions that begins the game (as specified in the emergent faction's campaign description):
At the beginning of the game, the advisor will appear and ask if you wish to swap control to the emergent faction. If so, click on the 'Show Me How' button and the game will switch to auto-pilot until the faction emerges. If not, press the dismiss button. For example:

Scripting mechanism You may alter and adapt the other elements of this modification for other public modifications freely subject to the following conditions. It may not be used for any commercial purpose. This mod and its creators must be identified within the credits included in any release.
What does it do?
This script allows you to edit the number of turns there are before a year elapses. You can use it to make each turn represent one of the four seasons, or a month per turn.
How does it work?
By using RTW's internal scripting language - the same thing that controls the prologue. For more information on scripting, read the two excellent guides in the scriptorium: A Beginner's and an Intermediate Guide to Scripting.
How big is it?
Approx. 250 kb
Mod compatibility
This script can be used in combination with almost all other mods and any version of RTW. The only exceptions to this are mods with complicated scripts. In this situation it is still possible to use this script, but it is more complicated to implement. Many mods with complicated scripts include the multiple turns script already.
Put export_descr_advice.txt under the data folder (make a backup of the current one first)

Comments
This mod can be used in combination with any other mod. Mod developpers who wish to include this script in their mod are free to do so so long as they contact me and give credit in their mod release.
This mod is my oldest scripting project, started when the RTW scripting language was not fully understood. You can read the research we did by clicking the Scripting Research link below.
I have to thank all those people who helped research the scripting language, and Jerome Grasdyke of CA for releasing the docudemon files and scripting notes.
