Re: Home computer arrangment
nVidia plus Vista, no way MTW would run on that! ~;)
Re: Home computer arrangment
I concur with drone: If it wasn't for Vista and the Nvidia card, absolutely.
As it is, however, no way in hell. ~D
Re: Home computer arrangment
I don't understand. Can someone offer some enlightenment?
Re: Home computer arrangment
If you can wait until GoodOldGames makes MTW Vista compatible I'd get it, the graphics card isn't exactly a top choice but pretty potent(basically the 9800GT is a renamed 8800GT...) and if you sort of get it cheaper anyway, then why not?
Re: Home computer arrangment
Hm if MTW is a concern then the 9800GT causes same problems as the 8800 IIRC
CBR

.
No Vista. Have it upgraded to XP Pro before you regret.

Are they getting the license to do this? :inquisitive:
I started in jest, but I guess Sigurd wants real feedback. What is the computer going to be used for mainly?
Re: Home computer arrangment
IMO, that computer looks pretty nice. It is about the top of the line you can get now and still have it at a relatively reasonable price. I can't think anything that it wouldn't be able to do well other than running those really old games as previously said
Re: Home computer arrangment
Yeah, setting aside that you might not be able to play older games, that's a pretty beefy rig. And for that price, you could do a lot worse.

So far it looks like only Infogrames and Codemasters work with them, but I hope some other publishers will see the light and smell the money they could make by selling games that noone buys anymore otherwise. ~D

The price is actually pretty good. I have been searching around to see what the same machine costs from other retailers.
It seems the average price including goods tax is 11 000 NoK ($1892, €1320), but that does not include office 2007 or the insurance. Our price offer is 9577 NoK ($1647, €1148) without tax benefit.
Some guys here pay 46% tax and with the tax benefit (deduct the money before calculating tax) they would nearly get it for half price.
Sadly I am using all the loopholes in our tax system and only pay 18% tax. My price would be 7853 NoK ($1352, €942) ...
I don't know what to do. We just bought a desktop a few months ago. And wifey is against it.
Re: Home computer arrangment
Well, the two things I find fault with it is the Vista OS and the Blu-Ray disc drive.
Aside from that, its a very good computer, but is the money worth spending there (or not depending on tax ) I also wouldn't want the "wifey" against it too.
all imo of course.

I'd say they're definitely two plus points. ~;p
The wife however is someone one should listen to, perhaps she wants the old new desktop for herself so you can have this new one.
Re: Home computer arrangment
If you are going to do anything relatewd to networking I reccomend Vista. If you're going to be gaming, I reccomend Vista. I'd consider maybe losing half a gig of RAM and going for 32-nbit, instead, as there are still a couple of compatability issues.
