so, returning to this game...

Haven't played in a long time, have Dec off, so got Kingdoms off ebay and intend on returning and playing as much as possible...


There are still a few things I'm still unclear about, despite searching:

1. patches/updates; what do I need, and where to find them?
---MT2 > Kingdoms > then what?

2. Also, (assuming Kingdoms/patch doesn't cover it) what are the best fixes for:
-- 2-handed weapon bug
-- group formation/fighting
-- charging
-- chasing routing units
-- moral/every single unit fighting to the last man
-- seige issues

-- any other thing that many consider 'mandatory' and was in RTW, but not in MT2, and may be addressed in a community patch/fix/mod

1. Kingdoms patched to 1.4, links are found on google. edit: i felt like providing at least one link: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showp...39&postcount=1 for patch.
2. I would suggest either the 2 hander modfix by FactionHeir (In the vanillamod subforum hosted mod) or the other one (found by searching the citadel)
For others, I dont think they can/are fixed outside of a major mod at least
For morale, just preferences.txt and turn morale off.

I actually just built a fairly high-powered system for my videography, and I can't wait to play MT2 at full resolution, full detail, etc.!

These ones are tricky, and can't really be completely fixed I think, but they can at least be partially compensated.

Well, finally got around to playing this, and 2 issues:

1. the install was troublesome. It finally did install, with patches, sortof, I guess...

2. playing Britannia campaign, as Irish. Every time I try and battle, I get the eternally-spinning hourglass, or just a black screen with the cursor, before it ever cuts to the battlefield mode.

I think CA was just trying to test everyone's patience with this game.

Did you patch it correctly, and in the right order? it goes 1.2-1.3,1.4.

I haven't got a clue about the Britannia battles, sorry

Well, I was wondering about that, and was reading here about it tonight...

So which is it?

MTW2>Kingdoms>then what? What is the EXACT and SPECIFIC order? It looks like many say to skip a patch. (is it 1.1?) Are they all after Kingdoms, or some before? Btw... THIS IS ABSURD!

I think you might have to uninstall kingdoms I'm afraid, but not the original. Then get patches 1.2 and 1.3 (I think you might need to reinstall kingdoms for 1.3 although im not entirely sure)

The updated version of Kingdoms is 1.05, not 1.4.

Okay... so I'm returning AGAIN! (Christmas break).

Going to install MTW2, then Kingdoms, then try the 1.5 patch. (EU version; I don't have Gold, and believe I therefor need the 1.5 EU patch?)


ANYHOW, I'm wondering...

...do I still need the "2-H" fix and any other fixes?


I always loved Scots Nobles, Varangian Guard, Zweihander, etc units... And I'm assuming these problems are not yet addressed even with 1.5?

How about charging, AI during sieges, etc?

UPDATE: The 1.5 EU patch won't work (though some sources say it's the one to be used for American-bought retail box versions of MTW2 and Kingdoms.) Meh, whatever.

With my European copy of the game (I assume it's European I bought it in the UK, M2TW and Kingdoms seperately) I did it in this order.

1. Installed M2TW.
2. Downloaded and installed 1.1 patch (Probably not neccesary but I wanted to be sure)
3. Downloaded and installed 1.2 patch
4. Downloaded and installed 1.3 patch
5. Installed Kingdoms
6. Downloaded and installed 1.05 patch (EU, I seriously suggest US if you bought in the US)

Everything worked perfectly. Note though, on the 'Data' packs of each patch it took around 10 minutes for each one, so be patient with the patches.

On the patch would anyone know what version of the 1.5 update I need seeing I'm playing from Australia? I'm confused as to which one I need to download..

It was a long time ago that I downloaded it, but I recall using the European patch update.
