Hey guys, long time no post.
I decided to take an extra-long break from EB because i realized that it's pointless. The mod is fantastic, obviously, as i've said tons of times, but the engine and its limitations kill it. I mean, like, you create a big empire, and then there's no way you will ever lose it. You never go into debt, there are no disloyal generals, other stuff. I want the risk of it falling apart... otherwise there just isn't a point to playing once you have created the desired empire.
Just wondering if any progress had ever been made on the EB in M2:TW?
I always thought it would be fantastic to be able to create a Roman empire and then have to worry about disloyal generals and other penalties for being way too big.
Re: Hey guys, long time no post.
Well, there are limitations to the engine as you may know. If you want a challenge, RP your empire and simulate your own civil wars to keep things interesting.

Check out the EB2 forum. From playing mods such as Stainless Steel and Deus lo Vult there seems to be much greater scope for the things you mention in the M2TW engine, I have had generals rebel many times in those games for example.
Re: Hey guys, long time no post.
One thing that they should really have in EB II is various large-scale invasions, just like the Timurids & Mongols in M2TW or the hordes in BI. Those really make it interesting because you can actually lose a lot to those, even if your empire is fairly sizable.
Re: Hey guys, long time no post.
Well, there's always the thing with historical accuracy. Hard to come up with any big bad invasion of Mongolian scale in the EB timeframe.
Re: Hey guys, long time no post.
well how about hordes? like in BI? a faction gets displaced and they have to move on
Re: Hey guys, long time no post.
after all, the germanic tribes were doing that in this time frame as well, so it could easily be feasible.
as to mentioning stainless steel, that was (IMHO) the best M2TW mod out there, including lots of traits and retinues not in vanilla. like the EB of the medieval period :2thumbsup:

There was no lack of those during the EB timeframe, believe me. The barbarian and nomadic tribes were always invading. Just think of the Helvetians, Cimri, Teutons as well as other Germanic invasions of Gaul and Italy. Or the Yuezhi, which I am sure were not the only nomadic tribe to attempt a major migratory invasion. Alternatively, EB can start at 281 BCE, when the Gallic Invasion of the Balkans was just beginning. Not only this, but it is even possible to have random barbarian/nomadic invasions, much like the brigands that tend to pop up, only on a massive scale - that would be one heck of a curveball, something that would delight many EB II players.
Re: Hey guys, long time no post.
Celtic and Germanic "migrations" had many specific causes behind them. They didn't simply magically appear from another dimension in the middle of Germania at an exact date.
It is EB policy to not include historical events that occur within the range of the map, whether they be Hannibal's army or a Helveti migration. This will include EBII. However, this does not mean that there will not be scripted rebellions or "random" army spawns when certain requirements are met.

The problem is that the R:TW/M2:TW engines do not discern between conquest and displacement. The Germans did not migrate when they were (temporarily) subjugated by the Romans because those did not try to displace them. However, the engine will always let a faction form a horde.
Re: Hey guys, long time no post.
Just wondering as it might be a little bit off-topic:
Is it possible to create eleutheroi armys via console and let them invade your empire? If thats possible, you could easily RP your own invasion. I'm not sure if its possible to make eleutheroi units actually ATTACK your empire and not just stand there and wait. I'm always playing on VH on the campaign map and usually the eleutheroi just stand and wait... only seldomly they siege my cities.
Comments? :)

Then don´t create an empire. Go crazy. Real crazy. How about...shipping Pyrrhos of Epirus to Ireland? Oh wait, that´s been done.
Well, migrate Rome to Krete, create an full-stack army of FM´s and march them from Numidia to Denmark and back. Conquer everything except you leave all faction with a single province, then use FD and loads of diplomats to make an EB map of how the world looked at various times in history.
Play as AS and gift all your provinces to Casse then migrate to Kush. Just sit about doing nothing for 300 years.
Go crazy.
Re: Hey guys, long time no post.
the easiest way to make the rebel faction aggressive is to give them LOTS of cash via console every turn...
Re: Hey guys, long time no post.
Re: Hey guys, long time no post.
Easily. Just open RomeShell and input: add_money slave, 40000 a few times, until you think it's enough. I, for one, follow satalexton's advice by giving them 120.000 mnai per turn. The result: slower and more precise AI expansion, plus the rebels are slightly more aggressive.

Re: Hey guys, long time no post.
It's a shame the EB team can't just make a game engine and turn EB into a stand alone game...sigh =/
That'd be cool though, they can put their product for retail on the market and outsell RTW! :D

true, that would be pretty awesome. but I don't know know how well the game would sell though, it is after all a real time strategy game and those types of games have limited fans bases. also, the campaign might be too slow for some, since not everyone likes to roleplay and not everybody cares about historical accuarcy, hence you have vanilla RTW. Still though, I would buy it and I'm sure many other players would once some great reviews came out and the word got out.
