Default Hey guys, long time no post.

I decided to take an extra-long break from EB because i realized that it's pointless. The mod is fantastic, obviously, as i've said tons of times, but the engine and its limitations kill it. I mean, like, you create a big empire, and then there's no way you will ever lose it. You never go into debt, there are no disloyal generals, other stuff. I want the risk of it falling apart... otherwise there just isn't a point to playing once you have created the desired empire.

Just wondering if any progress had ever been made on the EB in M2:TW?

I always thought it would be fantastic to be able to create a Roman empire and then have to worry about disloyal generals and other penalties for being way too big.

Well, there are limitations to the engine as you may know. If you want a challenge, RP your empire and simulate your own civil wars to keep things interesting.

Check out the EB2 forum. From playing mods such as Stainless Steel and Deus lo Vult there seems to be much greater scope for the things you mention in the M2TW engine, I have had generals rebel many times in those games for example.

One thing that they should really have in EB II is various large-scale invasions, just like the Timurids & Mongols in M2TW or the hordes in BI. Those really make it interesting because you can actually lose a lot to those, even if your empire is fairly sizable.

Well, there's always the thing with historical accuracy. Hard to come up with any big bad invasion of Mongolian scale in the EB timeframe.

There was no lack of those during the EB timeframe, believe me. The barbarian and nomadic tribes were always invading. Just think of the Helvetians, Cimri, Teutons as well as other Germanic invasions of Gaul and Italy. Or the Yuezhi, which I am sure were not the only nomadic tribe to attempt a major migratory invasion. Alternatively, EB can start at 281 BCE, when the Gallic Invasion of the Balkans was just beginning. Not only this, but it is even possible to have random barbarian/nomadic invasions, much like the brigands that tend to pop up, only on a massive scale - that would be one heck of a curveball, something that would delight many EB II players.

Then don´t create an empire. Go crazy. Real crazy. How about...shipping Pyrrhos of Epirus to Ireland? Oh wait, that´s been done.
Well, migrate Rome to Krete, create an full-stack army of FM´s and march them from Numidia to Denmark and back. Conquer everything except you leave all faction with a single province, then use FD and loads of diplomats to make an EB map of how the world looked at various times in history.
Play as AS and gift all your provinces to Casse then migrate to Kush. Just sit about doing nothing for 300 years.
    Go crazy.
