Favorite Celtic Faction in EB?

I would take Casse any day: their relative isolation protects them, their lands are rich with trade and mining and they have access to a very diverse and powerful roster of Celtic and Goidilic units. Besides, their artwork is superb.

Arverni are a second since I prefer Arjos to Cingetos, but elsewhere they and the Aedui face big challenges with mean resources. Their initial roster also seems to lack in diversity: for some reason I can't even recruit Gaeroas with a high level MIC, as far as I played with them. They also have to fight the Romani and Sweboz after spending their troops and money fighting themselves, which means a big disadvantage and a constant struggle to survive.

Basically, you can choose between the three (Casse, Arverni, Aedui) and tell the reason of your preference.

Casse is my choice.
Their very very heavy infantry is really kick-ass bad boys who I love them with my whole heart eventhough most of my troop will be horse-archers and the akward phalanx. :rtwyes:

Arverni, for the very reasons that you don't like 'em. The fact that they're in constant struggle against all their neighbours makes them so fun. Although it's true that their early roster isn't that amazing their late units are more than impressive. The Casse units are fun and all but I hate the fact that you have to expand slowly against rebels.

I like Casse best, but because I play historically, they become boring - I play so they never leave the British Isles until some non-Gallic faction pisses them off by taking Belgica. Until then, they stay at home.

Arveni is fun if you can get a solid alliance with the Romani, and help them beat up the Aedui. Also they can be quite powerful after taking Massilia.

I prefer the Aedui. The one unit difference between them and the Arveni would be the main reason: the Arjos dont really fill and combat niche that isn't already filled: they're identical to the Sulduros with the exception of a lower cost and smaller mic requirement, but with a smaller Aor to deal with. Not to mention that the Aedui are still true men, and don't prostrate themselves before some false god-king!:horn:

Aedui, I don't know why, but they speak to me. They were the first faction I played with so now I love them and hate the darned Arverni...

Arverni; Vercingetorix FTW!!

Gauls beat Britons (their units have some armor, their warfare style is closer to me than levies + champions, their have good map position and will meet more cultures earlier) and Aedui beats Arverni (Carnutes, nicer skins).
So:
1. Aedui
2. Casse (Arverni would be the same as 1., some change must be)
3. Arverni

There are two options missing: Galatians and All of them :idea2:

Casse, because they have lots of cool troop types by comparison to the other two. They also have the novelty of chariots [cool even when useless].

Galatians are not properly a faction, though, it's up to the guy who gets there first :smash:.

Galatians, Boii, Helvetii, etc... are all proper Celtic factions that could not be implemented in EB (sadly :no:)

....but EBII shows promise :yes:

It's in a purely technical sense. They are all eleutheroi :smash:.

Though I would love to see the Boii, and more even the Galatians in EB II. Imagine how a Galatian faction would be expanding into the East and the Hellenistic worlds; sweet.

Though I don't know much about Celtic history, my vote goes to the Casse. I just like them more, I guess.

oh man, the thought of galatia or the boii as factions seems so appealing - i wonder if there is a chance they will be in EBII.

I voted casse - i had such a good time with their campaign, and their roster more than makes up for charioted FMs.

I thought Getai were celtic.

they are Thracian's
although some Celtic elements are in their civilization butt this was merely some cultural exchange from earlier contacts and the migration of the Galatians
