:faq:
thx for being unhelpful Bovi.
to the OP:
1.
Romans: 3
Polybian
The Polybian Reforms happen due to a change in equiptment and tactics that were adopted or adapted due to wars with Carthage and Celts.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
-At least year 242
-Hold 2 of these cities (Segesta, Mediolanum, Patavium, Bononia)
-Hold 2 of these cities (Lilibeo, Messana, Syracuse)
OR
-Wait until 210BC
(You get the new units only after upgrading your MICs.)
Marian
The Marian Reforms mark a shift between citizen soldiers and professional soldiers from any class who are supplied their equiptment by the state. These reforms will occur when you have a large empire with a lack of landed citizens to fill the growing need for soldiers. If at this point there is a man willing to make the changes to the military system, the reforms will take place.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
-At least the year 172BC
-Have more than 6 Latifundia built in Italy
-Hold at least 45 settlements
-Fight more than 250 battles
-Have a character that is:
Sharp/Charismatic/Vigorous
Popularis
Consul or Ex-Consul
Has Influence > 2
Has Command > 2
OR
-Conquer 90 settlements.
Augustan
If a man with the drive arises in the Republic, willing to overthrow the Senate, give him the chance and these reforms will take place. (These reforms are not inevitable and are based on whether such a character arrises.)
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
-At least year 125BC
-Hold 90 settlements
-Have at least 45 type2 settlements
-Fight 400 battles
-Have a general that is:
Sharp/Charismatic/Vigorous
At least Skilled Bureaucrat
At least Arrogans
At least Expert Recruiter
Can't be Selfless
(If these conditions are met, the general will receive a trait telling he wants to seize power. Make him the Faction Heir and as soon as he becomes the leader the reforms will happen.)
2. The EB script activates all scripted events (reforms, 'This Year in History', etc.). technically, I do not belive it is required to play, but it is very, very highly recommended.
what i meant was that, instead of providing a real answer like mine, he just told him to go to the FAQ. You see, he's not being very helpful. not very helpful at all.
Take one damned look at the bug report and tech help subforum and you'll see how "unhelpful" he is.
The purpose of the FAQ is to answer these questions. That is why it's stickied, why it was made, and why people tend to have less patience in answering questions easily found before you even make a topic.
Go to FAQ
Read FAQ
Under "Gameplay" you will find the question, "I just got reforms but I didn't get new units."
Now do "CTRL C" on that question, "CTRL F" then paste "I just got reforms but I didn't get new units." and you will find the following answer, "You have to upgrade your MIC in order to get new units.".
See that was not too hard, when you have been here for a while you too will have small patience with the same questions asked over and over again, especially those of them that can be answered in 2 minutes in the FAQ or 5 by a Forum Search.
To add, the FAQ also says about reforms,
"Romans: 3

The question was answered in post #2. And stop trying to tell us, patronizingly, not only how to answer questions but when to close threads now too.
In most cases, my helping people consists of pointing them to the place where they can read information for themselves. Prussian Iron, I'll try to remember to not point you to any useful information.
well, maybe you could have been a little more descriptive and specific like me and macilrille.
its actually very easy to miss in the FAQ if you're not scrolling very slowly.
when i click on faqs i can not find the part where it says gameplay. I have the same problem but with sweboz. I downloaded the 1.2 permanent fixes, and now i am in year 194 and still in time of the tribe. still no germanic heavy infantry. I really did try to find help on FAQs before i posted. any ideas?
:inquisitive:
You just go to this thread and scroll down to the part where it says "IV. Gameplay", and then scroll down to the bunch of spoilers and look for the Sweboz (Druhtitīdiz). You open the spoiler and then read the requierements...
I mean...
Come on...
It takes less time to look for that than posting this message! :dizzy2:
While I am not necessarily defending Prussian Iron, I do have to say that most of the time the search function is very useless, as it only looks for matches like Ctrl+F, without sorting out the relevancy that much. Basically, any thread with those two words mentioned anywhere will be displayed. And there is a limit of 100 results. The Search function always works for me, but only after about 10-15 minutes of searching, if not more.
K Raso, thanks for the help. I tried the search function, and it just said no results. I never found those FAQs, but you solved my problem. BTW everyone has always been very helpful when i ask a question, or if someone else does. Thanks everybody for you help and work on all of the projects.
And I'm not being confrontational here, but as an example, to find the roman reforms I opened the FAQ, clicked "search" (or Ctrl+F) and typed "marian". I clicked once and found marian in a related question, I clicked for a second time and I found the Marian Reforms.
If you couldn't find it by "marian" you could have typed "reforms" or "roman", and to find the reforms section by that search criteria would have been a bit longer, but still a matter of seconds... The thing that I don't understand, is how is that so hard or time consuming to do?
Your welcome, stick around and keep posting.
Perhaps you should include a link in your sig to the faq. I notice that you have links for the 1.2 fixes and frequent issues so 1 more link shouldn't be that bad.
Hopefully that will cut down on the number of people who do not even attempt to look things up for themselves and complain about you not looking it up for them. Next they'll ask you to read bedtime stories and tuck them in at night. Oh and remember to leave the door cracked and the night light on...
lol, i just realized i typed 'FAG' instead of 'FAQ' on accident. i edited it.
anyway, to all those telling people to press search, it never works. like said above, typing 'marian', 'roman', or 'reforms' into search box will turn up with every thread with any of those words in it. so, that argument is already invalid.
add to that the fact that he has no idea what was happening or what the marian reforms are, he probably wouldnt know what to type in.
:wall::wall::wall:
The search they are referring to isn't the forum search feature its the text search feature located on typically the Edit menu of your browser. Here is the sequence that you should use to find "frequently asked questions".
1) go to the faq thread that is stickied at the top of the eb forum.
2) select search from the edit menu on your browser
3) type in the relevant word you are looking for like "marian" or "reform"
4) click search
5) press F3 to continue to the next instance of that word
6) repeat number 5 as many times as you like.
first:
i dont have that feature. i dont use retarded internet explorer.
second: how would he know it is marian reforms or anythin like that? he wouldnt have known to type that.
he meant the forum search function, there's a link with the latin letters S-E-A-R-C-H. It spells the english word 'search'.
Click that, and a seach tab would appear.
As for the motor functions of controlling the hand and fingers, I'm no neurologist. thus i can be of no help.
Ctrl-F is common to all web browsers. FAQs are meant to be read first, if you have a problem.
Agreed. I was browsing though and happened to read this thread, thinking someone was in need of help.
Both parties had/have good intentions. Both wanted to help in their own individual way. As long as this is established, any disagreements can be let go. Let's not turn the forums into a battleground and keep it a friendly community.
This is perhaps a good idea to consider Bovi. Instead of pointing to the FAQ, place it in your sig. But again, just a thought.Quote:

yeah, i can testify to that. rather annoying really.
perhaps if you took out the 'frequent issues' youd have enough space?
