It's not "swords", it's "weapon type". To answer the question, nothing.
Yeah, it is merely a designation that helps AI know what to recruit. Certain factions are scripted to recruit certain units AFAIK. That "balanced caesar" or "builder stalin", etc AI personalities thing in desc_strat may influence AI recruitment.Quote:

I'd assume one possible answer to the original question would be as follows:
If you consider a Roman's gladius as a light sword (he holds it in one hand), then a Germanic warrior's two-handed long sword would be considered a heavy sword (AP too if I'm not mistaken).
yeah, i kinda figured it was just a difference between a short-sword and a long-sword.
i mean, gladius=a couple pounds, 2-hand iron swords= OMG OVER 9000!!!!
