Sadly, Frags, there are most likely a few folks who do believe the official line. Remember, for a repressive regime, providing some form of "fig leaf" for their actions is a useful tool for keeping the regime's "true believer" cadre supportive and motivated. They may be only a percent or two of an entire group, but because they are "in the trenches" and adamant in their support, dissent is discouraged as others seek to avoid confrontation with these true believers. That lie was not crafted to be believed whole cloth by everyone -- only to help it's target audience stay focused.Quote:
