Shepard's Xenophily in Mass Effect
Is anyone else disappointed by the lack of romantic options in the Mass Effect series? They so clearly push you into making love with as many aliens as possible by making the humans so unattractive in comparison. They set up ME1 between a racist human and a shy, quiet, scientific humanoid alien. ME2 was between Yvonne Strahovski and Tali. But Tali as we all know, is pretty much the equivalent of a mystery box. What's in the mystery box? For all we know, another Yvonne Strahovski. Look all I am saying is that, Shepard's xenophily is pretty much canon.
EDIT: Herp derp, misspelled xenophily in the title. If an admin could change that it would be appreciated.

I personally don't know a single person who played as male or female Shep and didn't go for Liara. I wish there were more than 2 options.

Meh, Tali was easy. Its like trying to hook up with a really drunken girl. Miranda FTW.

Re: Shepard's Zenophily in Mass Effect
Must admit it wasn't difficult to go Liara over Ash, ME2 I went Miranda. Although my bro went Ash over Liara, must not like the colour blue?

Oh please, you cannot honestly tell me that a girl who takes no effort to get into bed is more rewarding than one who you need to really work at.
When I romanced Tali it was like
"Hi Tali whats up?"
"OMG SHEPARD I LOVE YOU GET INTO BED WITH ME"
"Ok."
With Miranda it took work (relatively) and a growing relationship over the course of the game.

Are you kidding me? You know how much work it takes for Tali and Shep-shep to mate in the first place? First you have to convince her that sex is possible between the two, then you have to convince her to take the risk of taking off her suit for intercourse, thirdly Miranda is the definition of an easy roll in the hay.
"Everything I have is due to my terrible father."
"Nah baby, you're independent and strong and smart."
"You think so?"
"Yeah Miranda you're so wonderful, now lets put on a show for Edi."
Pretty much says everything, when 90% of the time talking to Miranda you don't even look at her face.

There may have been some chafing problems and he may have continuously brushed me off for 'calibrating'... but my beau was totally worth it. :laugh4:

Speaking of Tali, there's more than one reason why she's the best romance option in the ME series.

Totally an exaggeration. You do not have the camera focused on her butt for more than a few times.
After I did Tali's loyalty mission it took one conversation to convince her to bed.
*yawn*
And While Mirandas conversation path for romance is roughly what you said, it wasnt done in all one conversation, as it was for Tali.
Plus Tali was always in love with Shep. She reminds me of some teenager with a crush.

Fine except for her being generally insufferable. Could not stand Miranda. Waah, waah, I'm so perfect, life is hard. At least Jack's got a legit reason for being a jerk. With how annoying they both are, you'd think they'd get along better. At least Tali's likable.
Also, that face. Ergh.

I actually kinda liked Ashley. Seemed like a reasonable enough military type, and was actually a touch more complicated than first glance. Kinda had the Pressley thing going on in regards to aliens. Thought Liara was very boring.

Ok fine, at first glance but she was such a child....

Re: Shepard's Xenophily in Mass Effect
Pff, Tali is adorable and sweet, and if you can't see that, then you probably don't have a soul.
-
Re: Shepard's Xenophily in Mass Effect
Yeah, adorable and sweet like a 12 year old.
I honestly felt like a pedo during her romance.

You're still a dirty, dirty man.
Remember, It's not against the law if you're in international waters; or space.

Re: Shepard's Xenophily in Mass Effect
Tali is just an introvert. Why would you think that she behaves like a kid?

Exactly! More proof that with either gender, Shep-shep is Xenophilic.
ME1: Generic soldier who sounds like Carth or shy, bisexual alien. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
ME2: Generic soldier with elongated syllables or Mr. Reach & Flexibility HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Re: Shepard's Xenophily in Mass Effect
Also to a lesser extend the romance in DA:2, romancing the elf over the human. Although DA:1 was mainly human, I guess this point is kind of moot.
-
Re: Shepard's Xenophily in Mass Effect
Hehe...
When I first played throught ME1, I got into a conversation, where Liara and Ashley had a fight and I pissed both of them off. Then the romantic stuff popped up again here and there and I was like heeey... I am trying to play a video game here >_>
Then I played ME2 and pretty much from the get go, I knew what was going to happen, so I just tried to delay it as long as possible and in the end, I ended up giving Tali a cold... oh well... I never really liked Miranda, she annoys the crap out of me with her 'attitude' if you can call it that, besides, I seriously do not like her face but that is just me I guess.

Pretty sure Isabela is the "preffered" romance - woman's in the freaking trailer snogging Hawk.
DA:O had a surprising lack of elf-sex, especially in the XP's.
Actually, now that I write that - DA:O had loads of elf-sex, just not elf-relationships.
Shepard, well Miranda is just the actress (from Chuck) with a black dye-job, except I think they padded out her jumpsuit, so she's a big deal but maybe she's not meant to be a romance. As far as Ashley goes, irrc if you romance her in ME you can pick it up again in ME3, soooo....
I don't Bioware's doing "canon" anyway.
