Jews are weird

Its like none of my brethren have seen a US Army uniform before.
Im in the ROTC program so on Thursdays we wear our uniforms all day, since we have field training later in the day. So today I wanted to get some food and talk with some of my Jewish friends so I go to the Kosher dining hall.

I felt like all eyes were on me. Except the awesome black lady who works the buffet counter. She said "Awww hell yeahhh!" and gave me a high-five when she saw me.
But I seriously felt like the vast majority of Jews where I am have no idea what a US Army uniform looks like, judging by the stares and questioning looks I got.

Theres a reason I hang out more with my non-Jewish friends.

Were you the only one without a peyot or a kippah?

I dont have peyot like you see the religious people having. I have neatly trimmed sideburns in accordance with US Army grooming policies. I wear a kippah only in the Kosher dining hall out of respect to the locals.

Over here, we have no such thing - they just put a little sticker on the food Jews and Muslims are "allowed" to eat.

There are over 8,000 Jews at my university, and around 1,500 keep kosher, so yeah, a sticker wouldnt work. But the sticker thing sounds nice. Then Id be able to eat breakfast with my ROTC buddies instead of eating my lonely breakfast in my dorm room since if you arent on the non-kosher meal plan you can eat in the non-kosher dining hall and the breakfasts at the kosher dining hall suck.

Yeah... there are only about 12,000 students at my university.

Well my university is unique since there are a lot of Jews in the state its situated in so they come here. And over the years its developed a reputation for being the most "Jewish yet secular" college in the US.

So now you finally know why they are wailing at walls, bacon is tasty. Ostrich bacon is pretty close by the way if you don't feel like eating pig, good steak as well, awesome meat-bird very versatile

Everything's bigger in Texas.

American universities are usually very large. States like California have many uni's but since there is a high population, most of them are in the tens of thousands. My uni is ~27,000.

States that have a low number of universities can be extremely large despite the state having a relatively low population.

Here's something that will blow your mind @​Psychonaut, Arizona State University has 72,000 students.

Not to mention it has the great Albrecht Classen as a lecturer.

I go to a private university and its considered pretty small. about 10k population.

asu is known more for their female population than their lecturers ;)

That's because all the girls flock to dr. Classen, Ph.D.

Wow, even Harvard has 21,000~ students.

Although, that is apparently the same number as Oxford (but Oxford has 5000+ research students).
