Sure'n it's a question of perspective as to that "rebel" labeling is it not?

I believe that the privilege of deciding who was "loyal" and who was "rebel" usually belongs to the victor. History is one of the most important spoils of war. I am abymally ignorant about Irish history, but since the Irish eventually got their independence (except the northern Irish, who don't seem to be much bothered about it) I'd have to say that the "rebels" were actualy the "loyal" ones.
So who was this Earl of Ormonde anyway? I have to admit I don't know what side he was on, and I'm not even sure what the sides were at that time.
