Cutting factions in 2 = rebellion?
In MTW cutting a faction's lands in two often resulted in rebellions in the half seperated from the leader, does this happen in RTW?
I am palying the Seleucids and have just cut the parthian empire in two by taking Susa. I attacked here to provoke rebellions as the leader is stuck in the mush smaller area, I was hoping to see rebellions in the rest. There have been a few rebel armies in those lands but no massive rebellions thaat I can see.
Apologies if this has been extensively covered elsewhere, but I can't remember seeing a definitive answer to this.
Re: Cutting factions in 2 = rebellion?
I havent yet seen this happen in RTW.. Would be interesting to try it though.. :)
Re: Cutting factions in 2 = rebellion?
there might be an increase in rebellion for far-flung provinces due to distance from capital, but i don't think it will be a difference from when the demesne was contiguous.
The Gauls start of cut in two.
Re: Cutting factions in 2 = rebellion?
If you are cutting the territories in half, then by default you'll be cutting off their trade routes, which I think adds to unrest. There may be more complex calculations going on under the bonnet, it's certainly more complex than the MTW model.
Re: Cutting factions in 2 = rebellion?
It just seems to me that if a territory were cut in two it would have more immediate and far reaching political repurcussions. Low level rises in unrest because trade had been interupted would seem to be the least of it to me. Especially if the leader were on the other side of the divide.
Re: Cutting factions in 2 = rebellion?
I had a single territory of Parthians completely surrounded and cut off from it's main force for many, many turns (That idiotic province hiding in Eygpt, I didn't notice it) and no major rebelling was going on there at all, despite the fact that it was completely isolated and surrounded by hostile forces.
A bit unrealistic IMO. In a scenario like this, the town should be considered "under siege" and apply all the appropriate penalties.

I don't think so. At least, I haven't had trouble as the Julii with my lands split in half :D
Re: Cutting factions in 2 = rebellion?
I have split the spanish right through the center of the iberian pennisula and havent seen any problems with riots or revolts in there provinces. I'm retraining and regrouping for my final push as this will eliminate the spanish who have been kicking my behind on the seas. On the other hand I have noticed an significantly higher amount of roaming rebell armies of decent size (1/2 and 2/3 stacks) which seems to have worked in the spanish favor as these rebel armies stand on paths to the remaining 4 spanish cities but dont seem to be attacking them.
Re: Cutting factions in 2 = rebellion?
I have seen no problems with spain or gaul
