Bug? Bribed a Brutii army with two generals, only one visible in the family tree

I hadn't had a baby in the Julii family for a decade. A small Brutii army with two generals was walking through my territory. I had a healthy sum of cash saved up, so I decided to bribe the stack. I got both of the generals under my command, but only one -- the one commanding the stack -- is visible in the family tree. (And no, the invisible guy isn't the black sheep of the family we'd rather not mention. *That* guy is over in Spain fighting the locals; he may be a perverted sociopath, but he's MY perverted sociopath -- and the faction leader's son and an 8-star general.)

Happened to me this very morning.

I had just managed to wipe out the greeks last remaining city after a bitter 20 year war......bitter for them anyway. :)

Which turned their last stack containing the faction leader and his heir into a rebel army.Bribed em both but only the heir appeared on my family tree.

Perhaps theres only a certain number of slots on the tree for family members or the AI cant handle bribing more than one general at a time.

I think it's a case where the game doesn't allow you to bribe more than one member into your family at a time.

Think about it -- usually, toward the end of wiping out a faction, they usually have a stack that has two if not more family members. If you could bribe them all in one swoop, you'd be able to exponentially expand your family. It would feel like a bit of a cheat.

Seems more like a balancing issue than a bug. But who knows? Maybe I'm wrong, and it will be fixed in the 1.2 patch.

I don't think it's a balancing issue -- the other guy is under my command, after all. It's just that he doesn't show up in the family tree, other than that he's just another general.

Let me get this striaght -- you've got a general unit, but he's not showing up in your family tree? That's odd. I've never encountered that.

I think my original point still stands, though. It could be CA's way of making sure that you can't buy your way into three or four more family members in one turn.

Same for me also.

I can use both the generals i bribed(ex-greek faction leader and heir)as normal...but only one of them shows on my tree(the heir).

I think it maybe something to do with limitations on how wide the tree can grow.....but don't quote me on that. :)

Yup, exactly. I have in my Julii family two generals whose last name is Brutus, but only one of them (the one commanding the bribed stack which had 2 generals and something like 2 hastati) shows up as an adopted son in the family tree.

I think you can. I'm not 100% sure about this, but when I bribed the Brutii stack, the proposal I had on the diplomacy screen said something about the commanding general joining my family and the rest of the stack joining my army. Late yesterday night, I was finishing the Gauls, and I tried to bribe one of their small stacks which also had 2 generals. On this occasion, I *think* the diplomacy screen mentioned the other general joining my crew as well (and the regular units disbanding). I'm not entirely sure about this; I was getting ready to go to bed, and bribing them was so costly that I decided to kill them instead.

Anyway, you can buy several family members per turn if you have the denarii, you just have to do it separately.

Probably not... I wasn't that far in my game. I was at a point where most of the grandchildren of the original faction leader had been married for a few years. None of the 4th generation had yet been born.

Noob Question: Why, in few oportunities, i can't bribe an army?
That is, the diplomatic menu no have the Bribe option.
I attempt of bribe a enemy army, without family member, with family member, and in both ocassions, i can't.

First of all, I think you need to have 2000 denarii in the bank to have an option to bribe anyone. That's still not a guarantee you'll get the option; I have assumed that if it's missing, it means you can't afford to buy them off. I've only had seen it missing when dealing with largish settlements and fairly large armies led by generals.

Same thing happened to me. So far this had happened three times in my egyptian campaign.

The bad thing is that when the guy who did not appear gets married and has children. I have a whole branch of my family members decended from this guy not appearing.

Doesn't affect gameplay, but it spoils the aesthetics of the game. And it prevents me from selecting a good family member decended from the "invisible guy" as a faction heir.

Bribing two generals:
I has also happened to me and I think they were Brutii. I bribed a small stack which had two family members in it. I thought it was a good bargain as I didn't have too many members at the time. Only one of them (the leader of the stack) showed up in my family tree, while the other one clearly was my unit but didn't show up. I didn't follow his future career and don't know if that is going to level itself in a few turns?? Seems like a bug to me. If there was a limit on bribing at a time, then I would assume that the AI would disband the 2. family member in the process, as it does with units that you can't build yourself.
Bribing not possible:
If sometimes a bribe isn't possible there may be two reasons for it:
1. You don't have enough money and as to not embarrass yourself, the option doesn't appear.
2. The difference in influence points between your diplomat and the person you are trying to bribe is smaller than 4. Example: your 6* Diplomat tries to bribe a 3* general= not possible. Why, you might ask. I guess it's intended to show effects of loyalty and wit. The Enemy is simply too smart to be bribed. You have to live with it. Not everybody is bribable. Solution: Bring a diplomat with more influence.

I think only the COMMANDER of the stack gets added to the family tree. The rest are counted just as any other troops
