Useful links for research threads and guides
The idea of this thread is to collate together the research work being done in the forum into one place, and to point to existing guides. As the search function of the board may be pared back a bit, I feel this could be a useful addition. My intention is to update this first post when new threads come along, and to try and collect links of all the threads that are already out there. Below are some of mine, and some that I've noticed, but it is far from complete.
Edit: Added a section with useful research tools.
So suggestions for inclusion are strongly encouraged!

Re: Useful links for research threads and guides
I wonder if there's any chance at all of having a Research subforum where a post like this can be stickied? I don't want the Colloseum to get to loaded with stickies, but I've found and lost therother's previous thread collection post at least a dozen times in the last three weeks.
At any rate, thanks for the new collection therother!
Re: Useful links for research threads and guides
Nice list, therother.
Well ... there is the useful tools and links thread over in RTW guides. It's not exactly what you mean, Tamur, but it would be more perminant than this thread. Topics on this board are not deleted by age, unlike the ones on .com, so as long as a link remains somewhere handy the topic is not lost, only buried. A version of therother's post in that topic is guaranteed to hang around because a) the thread is pinned and will never be unpinned, and b)the RTW guide forum is purposely kept small and selective so it's less busy than this one. I would suggest that all of the links are labelled according to game version so people know what they are looking at. When the patch arrives a lot is going to change.
Someone could try raising the question of a dedicated game research forum in the watchtower and see what kind of response it gets. It would probably be spreading things a bit thin though.
EDIT: Tamur's ahead of me; the thread's already been started in the watchtower.

Yes, that is one concern I have about a dedicated subforum, it would be very low volume.
I worry about using that tools/links thread because of the number of changes involved in active research, and the number of searching-for-answers type posts that could end up posted/linked there were it to become a research collection point.
Re: Useful links for research threads and guides
Awesome list therother!
However, the link to the Devastation seem to be wrong.
Also, you forgot Soulflame's unit guide and my Quick Strategic Map Guide (I'll post the update this Friday or Sat).
I'll start the Quick Battlemap Guide as soon as I can (when all the Economic stuff gets resolved)~:) The economics guide was meant to be a part of the update to my Quick Strategic Map Guide, but It got too big, so I figured, I'll post it separately. ~

Re: Useful links for research threads and guides
For the Devastation link, the URL should be ?t=37843 rather than ?t=37831
Guess where it was? On page 13 of the threads. Eeek! I can't believe the thread turnover rate in here.
Re: Useful links for research threads and guides
Thanks for the corrections/updates. I think everything is now in place. Special thanks for Tamur for finding the Devastation thread address!
Re: Useful links for research threads and guides
Great links. Full of useful information. Any chance someone could put in all together and give us a non-beginners guide to RTW?
Re: Useful links for research threads and guides
I'm limping along at this, based on RL responsibilities etc. I'll see if I can pick up the pace now that all these threads are organised and somewhat stable.
Re: Useful links for research threads and guides
Well, I think that we're almost there quantitatively in terms of the economic and city management sides of the game. Only trade seems elusive, although I think we've got a fair handle on it qualitatively. So a good non-beginners guide covering these areas is certainly a possibility. It just needs some time to put together.
Re: Useful links for research threads and guides
Thanks for the effort guys! I look forward to read the guide when it's ready.
Re: Useful links for research threads and guides
I've added a section with useful research tools. As always, suggestions for inclusion are welcome.

How about a hex editor, like XVI32?
