How to make unique "user interface" for each culture group
How to make unique "user interface" for each culture group
It's quite easy. ~:)
1. Unpack .pak files from your Data\packs folder using Vercingetorix's PAK Extractor.
2. Copy unpacked files into your Data directory or simply create here following folders:
- Data\UI\BARBARIAN
- Data\UI\CARTHAGINIAN
- Data\UI\EASTERN
- Data\UI\EGYPTIAN
- Data\UI\GREEK
3. Copy unpacked folder Data\UI\ROMAN\INTERFACE into each of these new directories.
4. Now you can begin to change files in INTERFACE folders to create unique "user interface" for each faction groups related to certain culture type.

Hey Dead Moroz, everyone's been loking for you... :)

Re: How to make unique "user interface" for each culture group
Has this been removed in 1.2? I tried editing the files in INTERFACE but no luck. It won't show anything I've changed.
Re: How to make unique "user interface" for each culture group
No, it's not been removed. You just need to rename the UI pack afterwards, otherwise the game references the originals inside there first.

Re: How to make unique "user interface" for each culture group
Aaah, ok, gotcha. Thanks!!
Re: How to make unique "user interface" for each culture group
Now this is odd.
My Roman interface refuses to change. I managed to change the other interface but the roman one still stuck at the old one. Is there some file that controls this that I need to delete?
Re: How to make unique "user interface" for each culture group
have you removed patch_0.pak ? it includes the standard interface GFX

Not working, I guess the only solution is editing the file and paking it back wich is very hard with vercingetorix's Xpak and impossible with PakScape ... other software??
Re: How to make unique "user interface" for each culture group
It worked for me.
Be sure that you transfer the files from Data\UI\ROMAN\INTERFACE to the corresponding Data\UI\{culture_name}\INTERFACE folders.
In fact I made a "BI-style" user interface for the barbarian factions in the campaign:

At the same time the rest of the cultures have the "classical" interface, with some changes. I packed this new interface files (only for ROMAN\INTERFACE) as I said in this post:

I hope this helps.
Re: How to make unique "user interface" for each culture group
great work... beautiful interface...
Nevermind... still, it never works at all, it always reads the files from the pak and I edited the files and paked them back instead. ~:handball:
Re: How to make unique "user interface" for each culture group
Sorry of this has been covered - but I did not quite understand the above - why does the interface work as stated *except* for the Roman one? Has this something to do with it also being the default?
Re: How to make unique "user interface" for each culture group
SOLVED. The only way to get the Roman interface to work is to create a patch file.

That's great, I have done that before, but nothing changed. I used the pak extractor and after I tried the game, everything was the same as the default. Oh, and there is not UI folder at all on the default RTW. So if someone can explain how to do it with default RTW and Moded RTW I'd really apriciate it. Thanks in advance.
Re: How to make unique "user interface" for each culture group
You have to make your own UI folder, then proceed with the tutorial.
Good luck,

Precisely What is needed in the patch file? I've tried this but it does not like it!
Re: How to make unique "user interface" for each culture group
The Roman interface does not need packing in BI, I left RTW behind some time ago and forget if the necessity of packing it was overcome in a patch.
Please download a RTW mod, examine their files. Extract their pack files. This is the way to learn.
Re: How to make unique "user interface" for each culture group
I tested a roman interface a while ago for RTW and it seemed to work fine from a mod-folder with no need to use a pack.... so I would recommend trying that first.
