UK is still in Afghanistan and many other places as I recall.

The best we can hope for is that their presence is beneficial and not a drain on resources.

Uhm, Lemur, what's your point? That when the offices change hands, so do the arguments? I don't disagree. When you hear Democrats whining about a bloated budget, and Republicans talking about the need for Medicare Part D, yes, the Yin is Yang. Are you just realizing this?

I guess, but honestly, I find it sad. Everytime you have some glimmer of hope that they actually act on principal, you read one of these types of things.

Well, what goes around comes around, therefore anyone who states this when speaking of George W. Bush has increased his chance of becoming president.

If you're looking for examples of how party strategy changes when the opposition party versus being in control, Lemur, all you need to do is try to find an argument by which you can justify Medicare Part D (aka the drug company giveaway) stictly by quotes found in the original Contract With America. Cannot be done. :no: Shame on me for believing them back then. "Put us in office, and this is what we'll do". More like "Put us in office, and we'll do a number on you". Any good royalist or marxist candidates out there? I'm open to any party that will actually adhere to it's professed philospophy once in office...

It is the irony of the statements, and who said them. That is humorous. Were you to remove the identification of the persons making the quotes, (or their outrage over FISA - 7500 peeps over 20 years ain't that many. Versus +5,000,000 today without FISA or any legitimate oversight what so ever) and one would think they are talking about Iraq. The complainers being Dems of course.

BTW, the "we" in Bosnia today is the UN. We had a plan, a complete and articulate one. Not so in Iraq - where our leaders thought we would be treated as liberators ..... and incase we weren't they brought their own enthusiatic "arabs" with them. See "Control Room" (on DVD), if you don't believe it.

The moderator at another site I use to visit posted a long list of these quotes. It didn't take very long before the local republitard was screeching about disloyal citizens and stuff. If someone doesn't support the President he's obviously a terrorist sympathiser who should be deported! :laugh4:

This reminds me of a forum i visited a few years ago. One of forum members churned out a couple of sacred cow pictures (think political satire except minus the satire..... and the humour) with some pictures implying that the dems would have pussed out in world war 2

the creators wit and insight is matched by his skills with photoshop but i digress. Sombody commented that it was actually the Republicans who opposed fighting the second world war of coarse when this was brought up our protagonist explained that the Republicams of the past had noble heroic and totally understandable causes for opposing war with nazi germany and Japan when it was chewing up half of europe in contrast to the democrats who were all traitors.

First rule of politics: what applies to them doesnt apply to you....plus it helps to have the memory of a soap actor.

The guy who created that pic is either a moron, or a revisionist historian (probably both), because Kerry is right in that pic- Germany had absolutely nothing to do with Pearl Harbour and if they were calling the shots, America wouldn't have entered the war for years later.
