Re: Singing the World Cup!!
Sing all you want it won't help you :laugh4:
Hup Holland Hup
Laat de Leeuw niet in z'n Hempie staan
Hup Holland Hup
Trek 't Beessie geen Pantoffels aan
Hup Holland Hup
Laat je uit het Veld niet slaan
Want een Leeuw op Voetbalschoenen
Kan de hele Wereld aan. (2x)
Samen zijn we sterk
Eendracht maakt machtig
Hoe een klein land groot kan zijn
is dat niet prachtig
Nederland oh Nederland
Jij bent de kampioen
Wij houden van Oranje
Om zijn daden en zijn doen
Straks als het Rood-Wit-Blauw
Voor ons wordt gehesen
Dan zijn wij 'n groot gezin
Met goud zijn wij geprezen
Nederland oh Nederland
Jij bent de kampioen
Wij houden van Oranje
Om zijn daden en zijn doen
Van de tribune klinkt het Wilhelmus
Nu nog mooier dan voorheen
Och wie laat geen tranen
Nederland oh Nederland
Jij bent de kampioen
Wij houden van Oranje
Om zijn daden en zijn doen
Wij houden van Oranje
't Is de ware kampioen.

Swing low, sweet chariot
Coming for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot
Coming for to carry me home
...
Need I say more?
Re: Singing the World Cup!!
England fans can't remember many words.
Who ate all the pies?
Who ate all the pies?
You fat ******* !
You fat ******* !
YOU ate all the pies.
And of course:
"Are you Scotland in disguise?"
I'm not allowed to mention the Posh Spice one.
Re: Singing the World Cup!!
"Three Lions" by The Lightning Seeds and Baddiel and Skinner
Hands down the best Football song ever
Re: Singing the World Cup!!
Football's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming,
Football's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming,
Three Lions on a shirt, Jules Rimet still gleaming...
Repeat ad inifinitum (it's the best wold cup song ever). On a side note, how rubbish is the official England footie song for 2006?
And Soulforged, much as I hate congratulating you Argies on anything, that's an awesome national anthem you have there.
EDIT - lolz, beaten to it

Whoever signed Embrace up to do that should be shot, I truly cannot think of a less inspirational band. It doesn't matter anyway, since, as you say, Three Lions will always be the England World Cup song.
Does anyone remember that song about Vindaloo from Euro 96? That was truly awful. It didn't make any sense either, who buys buckets of curry?

Thanks. That's due to a couple of great creators, Vicente López y Planes and Blas Parera. I'd like to know yours too.
@Fragony: Thanks!! But you might as well translate it to english, as much as I'd like to I cannot understand dutch.:2thumbsup:
@EA: That's a funny song there :laugh4: . Do you people have anything against us? I've one against the English, wich is of course: "El que no salta es un inglés" (repeated many times) wich means that "He who doesn't jump is an english man". The song varies depending on the team we play, but generally it's against the english honouring that old rivalry.
@BKS: Thanks for not closing the thread. I thought that with all those profanities in my post the thread was in danger.:sweatdrop:
Re: Singing the World Cup!!
While looking for Marley covers on YouTube, the official unofficial World Cup Anthem:

Re: Singing the World Cup!!
No we don't have anything against the Argentinians, not withstanding the fat little cheat's handball in 1986...
We generally reserve our scorn for Scotland, although Germany has to put up with some "special" chants too.
I'd love to tell you about the Celery song but that would blatantly break forum rules as well. It used to be a life ban if you were caught trying to smuggle celery into a Gillingham match. (I kid you not)

It actually sounds like a watered-down Coldplay, and I'd thought you couldn't water their sound down any more than they already have. How much chance is there of crowds singing "something something go all the way something something world at your feet mumble mumble something something"
Bring back World Cup Willie :laugh4:

Re: Singing the World Cup!!
I believe that the media has connected "Vertigo" by U2 with the US National Team. Everytime I see a special report about them or something, they always play that song, with clips from both U2 singing it and some of the highlights wehave. Mostly McBride bleeding and US players fouling Italians (and getting the red too.) since thats about all we did this WC. Although I must say that we did score our first goal of the WC today.
