Says it all really. Police are more willing to go out at all hours to bother harmless civilians, than they are to tackle proper crime. Surely at 11:45pm there are more pressing things to worry about than warning someone about their gnome. You get your car broken in to at that time and you'll be lucky if a copper turns up next day, let alone that late. And then there's their arrogant stance and utter lack of humour on the matter and general contempt for everyday folk that makes you even less favourable towards them. It's probably just as well the gnome wasn't on a bicycle or they'd probably have claimed they caught it riding dangerously or something ridiculous.
It's good to know under Labour that tax payers money spent towards policing is going to such great use.
