I guess the Aussies are a step ahead of the rest of the world - so far I'd only heard of whales committing suicide by stranding themselves, but you guys might be on to something - it must be getting really bad down under if the land mammals are also killing themselves by marching into the ocean... :laugh4:

Yes I raised some eyebrows at that thread title too. (For those coming late to this thread, it started out simply as 'Australia sucks').

My first thought upon opening this thread was that Fragony had somehow now developed a dislike for non-European animals, or had joined a 'Mammals First! Marsupials out!' organisation or something.

Only halfway through this thread did the meaning finally dawn on me: Australia must suck really bad for this depairing noble creature to helplessly swim to his doom...

Once I got it I thought it was a good joke. Lacking a bit in execution, but quite funny nonetheless.

The original title wasn't mean-spirited or derogatory, but it didn't work. People were bound to take offense. The current title is much better. But where the original title was unclear about it being a joke, the current one now reveals the punchline too soon. Maybe that thread title should read something like this:

'Australia can't suck this much, can it...?

When phrased like this, it's still a fine little provocation, it makes people curious, and the joke unfolds much better - it now retains its punchline in the form of pictures of an emigrating kangaroo.

I can't even remember how it was there, like just another city.
